Clutch slip 5 Apr 2010 (Forum)
Please forgive me if this is entered in the wrong place, but I would like to hear from anybody who has experience premature clutch failure on Citroen / Peugeot, I am only interested in 2.0 HDI (138) on a six speed gearbox. My family owns four C5's and we have had to replace three of these due to weak diaphragm springs NOT due to wear. Please reply to clutchfailure@yahoo.co.uk -
Peugeot 406 (1996 - 1998) - 01 2.0HDi Feels slow and underpowered. 21 Oct 2009 (Forum)
Hello folks. Having owned a citroen xsara 1.9 diesel(non turbo) I sort of expected this 2.0 hdi model to have a bit more oomph!! At 70mph it feels as if it doesnt want to go much quicker but does get to 90. The car has done 118,000 miles. -
Which car was that (Jem's It's Amazing Video)? 24 Sep 2009 (Forum)
You just get a few glimpses of the car. Its been eating me all night - which car is it? I recognise it as a Citroen - but which one? Can anyone tell me and put me out of my misery? Thanks!! -
Mesrine public enemy 20 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Set between 1973 and 1979 it shows a terrific variety of 70s French cars. Renaults 8, 12, 14 & 16, Peogeots 404, 204, 305 and 504, plenty of Citroens of course and a Chevrolet Corvair even makes an appearance. Great for car spotting and a superbly tense and exciting film. Highly recommended. alfalfa -
Thanks for the warning 30 Nov 2008 (Forum)
professionally signwritten on the back of a Citroen C4 this afternoon - "Keep Well Back" "Harsh Unpredictable Braking" speaks volumes to me ;-) We would all, I assume, give the gent in question more than enough room, but assuming someone were to rear-end him and claim he had braked harshly and unpredictably, whats the likely outcome. -
Mitsubishi Outlander II (2007 - ) - Did Clarkson get it wrong 4 May 2008 (Forum)
Road test was a 2.2 Diesel - he went on to mention VW with regard to the engine. IIRC the original 2.0 Diesel was VW and not liked but the new 2.2 is from Peugeot / Citroen and transforms the car. Looks like for quality information HJ & the DT is still the best place -
Xsara 2.0 HDI fuel problem 10 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Anyone come across a problem with the 2.0 hdi citroen xsara (2001) engine whereby the engine is prone be to very slow at pulling away in first gear and intermittent non starting. I thought it was the fuel pump as is the usual culprit on this model so had that changed recently and the problem was better but seems to be still there, the lack of power low down under accelleration has never gone away?? -
Sliding doors on Berlingo/Partner 2 Jan 2007 (Forum)
The passenger side rear door rattles more and more annoyingly. The dealer and an independent body shop both say Citroen did a cheap fix putting in the sliding doors - "it's just a van, you know" - and there doesn't seem to be any adjustment to tighten them up when they wear. Anyone got any ideas? -

Van advice 12 Jun 2006 (Forum)
My choices at the moment are between an ex post office Vauxhall combi diesel 2003, 37,000 miles, 1yr warranty & mot for £4,000 locally, or an ex British Gas Citroen Berlingo, 81,000 miles, 1 owner, 1yr mot for £2,700 further afield. Just wondering what advice anyone may care to give. -
K and N Air Filters 31 Aug 2005 (Forum)
Do I beleive the hype that a properly cleaned and oiled one will catch more crud than a standard one? Or, a Citroen sage, and engineer of many years standing who suggests that the flitration element is compromised in pursuit of greater airflow, causing long term grit-blasting of bores, valves, etc? Observations and comments welcomed. -
Best Diesel car for £1,000? 10 Aug 2005 (Forum)
I'm looking for a medium/larger size diesel car for about a grand. What would be the best one to go for, Mondeo, 406, RENAULT LAGUNA, ford escort turbo diesel, CITROEN Xantia etc? Whats best and whats the worse diesel. Remember I only have £1,000. Cheers for any help. -
How much might this cost? 2 Aug 2005 (Forum)
My wife's 1999 Citroen Xsara 1.8 decided to deposit the contents of the cooling system through the heater matrix and into the passenger compartment. There's no over heating damage to the engine which is good, but i'm guessing the heater matrix and aircon might be in need of repair/replacement. -
to turbo or not to turbo 28 Feb 2005 (Forum)
I read (in the motoring section of one of the Sunday papers) that the Citroen/Peugeot 2.0HDi has a turbo. If this is the case, 1) why don't you get the audible 'whistle' that the VW/Audi TDi gives on acceleration? and, 2) does that mean they're not such a good buy 2nd hand (with all the warnings about older smoking turbos? -
Car Clubs 22 Sep 2004 (Forum)
If it is a concept you are not aware of www.whizzgo.co.uk gives more info on the scheme currently running in Leeds (no comments about the fact you have to drive a Citroen C3 please!!). Would you ditch your car and join such a club, or is owing a vehicle preferable? -

Range Rover reliability 24 Sep 2003 (Forum)
They really get a beating in the reliability tables but are they really as unreliable as they seem? After all Citroens don?t get a good press either but so far I?ve had eight years of really troublefree motoring from my two, one C5 from new and one ex-demo Xantia with 500m. on the clock. -
Saxo cambelt-advice please. 23 Apr 2003 (Forum)
I have a 1998 1.4 saxo which has only done 33K miles to date. Mostly short runs 4-5 miles each journey. Citroen advise change the cambelt at 72K service and they do not give a time limit. What should I do? As the car is coming up to 5 years old I feel inclined to get the belt changed but is this necessary? -
