  • Ford Fiesta - EAC Fail 7 May 2020 (Forum)
Car is all good runned for 300 further miles when the light came on again but this time after it went off a minute later the car completely died on me with an EAC Fail coming on at the mileage part of the dash. Got it towed off where I got it serviced they could not do anything as the car seems to be fully immobilised so when i turn the ignition on the padlock flashes. When AA tried to fix it , I got the fault codes sent over to me as to i’m not sure how he managed to retrieve and even a proper garage couldn’t get any codes at all when immobilised :We have recovered your vehicle.Patrol found the following fault code/s:\N{ }\N{ }System : Engine control 1 - 07N / SIM 22\N{ }\N{ }U0122 - Unknown fault.
  • Volvo V50 - Charges for returning a faulty vehicle 19 Oct 2019 (Forum)
As far as I am concerned there was a breach of contract and the car was mis-sold due to it being faulty and of unsatisfactory quality. Am I within my rights to report the car as abandoned so that it is towed and incurs charges payable by the owners?.... I refute ownership of the vehicle and have contacted DVLA to inform them of this already. Any advice on where I stand in of all this legally would be fantastic.

  • Ford Focus Zetec - ECU failure not covered by warranty 21 Mar 2018 (Forum)
The following day, when I called Ford in Guidlford to seek advice on what to do next, I was informed that this problem would “not be covered under warranty” and I could get it towed to any local garage. It was taken to Liss Garage Services, who have been servicing and repairing our family’s vehicles for many years.  Stewart Roberts, the proprietor, suspected a problem with either the ECU or a fuel injector, but told me that the engine was so badly damaged that it would need replacing, which he did at a cost of over £3,000.

  • Ford Focus - 1.8 duratec- gearbox issues - differential pin 16 Apr 2016 (Forum)
The diff pin had gone and taken with it both gearbox and clutch. I had it towed to a nearby garage and was later quoted about £2.5k to fix with new hardware. Trying to source a secondhand gearbox was very hard - the first few scrap dealers I called simply wouldn't sell a gearbox for the 1.8 petrol manual because it seems as though they knew it had this inherent fault.

  • Peugeot 307 2. 0 HDI Xsi 136 - PEUGEOT 307 HDI HOT STALLING? 25 Sep 2012 (Forum)
After cleaning the fuel out and refilling with fresh fuel the car still would not start, and even after towing to attempt to bump start it still would not start. The Cat was replaced, the injectors were replaced and the DPF filter was cleaned through with a jet wash and then with DPF cleaner. The car still would not start.
  • Ford Focus Hatchback 1.8 TDCi 2001 - Ford Focus TDCi engine seized. 7 Sep 2011 (Forum)
When trying to start the car the engine would not turn over.   The RAC towed the car to the dealer I bought it from as it was still under warrenty.   Having had the car for a couple of days, the dealer he has told me there is over 8 litres of oil in the car, and that there is no way it could have driven any further than 50-60 miles without having had a problem.
  • Volvo S60 (2000 - 2009) - 01 2.0 Indicator stalk replacement - Haynes manual 19 Dec 2009 (Forum)
My S60's indicator stalk was becoming intermittent, so with a guaranteed secondhand part delivered this week, set about the task this morning, with my trusty Haynes manual in tow. According to the Haynes manual, you have to remove the steering wheel and airbag, itself a convoluted procedure which can easily damage the contact unit if not done correctly. You then remove the column shroud and switches as appropriate.
  • Peugeot 1007 (2005 - ) - 08 - Persistent sliding door faults. 23 Aug 2009 (Forum)
i brought a brand new peugeot 1007 delivery millage only, 2007 plate in nov 07 ,as i drove home it developed a fault with the electric sliding doors where they where opening as we where driving.next day had to get a tow truck to take it back to peugeot. well a week went past heard nothing from the dealership, this was a pain as my 7 year old son is severly disabled and we had appointments up great ormand street. anyway another week passed heard nothing so i gave them a call to see if they could give me a loan car,had to fight tooth and nail to get one but in the end i did. it was a good job i did beacuse christmas came and they still said they could not fix the problems with both doors. christmas came and went so on the 10th of jan after hundreds of phone calls to rude peugeot workers and without a end in sight as they said they still could not find the fault i asked if i could have another car. so on the 22nd jan 08 i took delivery of another car the same as the faulty one. well it has not been an easy year and half i have had to put up with repeated faults with the doors, they open and shut on there own when they feel like it ,i have had to sit in my car for anything upto a hour just trying to shut the doors,i was driving though central london with my son in the back and they opened on there own. i did not bother takeing it back to the dealer as it is such agro as they are very rude and unhelpful and there is nothing to say they can fix the fault as they couldnt on the other car we first had . so putting up with this was bad enough but now is the final straw ,driveing tues last week and it broke down on the console it says transmittion fault and now the car cant move. could anyone tell me if they think i could get my money back or a differant car as this is such a unreliable car and dam right dangerous. i have had enough and im not sure what to do next. oh to let you know i brought this car though the motorbilty scheme (hire purchase) so i get to keep it at the end. please help many thanks
  • Most ridiculous breakdown 22 Aug 2007 (Forum)
Walk quarter mile to find phone and call AA. Join over the phone at exorbitant cost. Get taken 200 miles in AA tow truck. Am told car has cracked engine block. Clueless and skint, so fix it myself with Polyfilla. Car runs another two years before being sold, and MBM 559G is apparently still on road. Have been member of AA ever since.
  • When does your driving style change? 6 Jun 2007 (Forum)
I'd been looking forward to the trip for about a week. On the hill-climb, I got stuck behind a Landrover, towing a trailer full of Canoes. I was missing out on loads of glorious hair-pin bends. I was really close, looking for an opportunity to pass, but the bends are tight and close and there wasn't an opportunity.
  • Mobilo experience 15 Jan 2007 (Forum)
The chap took the car details & suggested it was better covered under the Mercedes Mobilo scheme than ApprovedWarranty - better benefits/provision etc 13:15pm The initial technician/mechanic arrived at premises about 25mins. after my call & quickly confirmed only solution was flat-bed to main dealer (about 40 miles distant) - he called up a suitable vehicle, which arrived about.... 13:45pm The car was in my garage & (being auto) left in 'park', this posed a bit of a problem as it meant the 'handbrake' was effectively on. After hitching car via tow-hook & using wooden blocks under the rear wheels to 'slip' the car backwards, it was loaded by about... 14:25pm Then taken to the dealership. Meanwhile, Mobilo rang a national car rental firm to arrange a replacement car., who then rang me to confirm status/driving licence details & get CC number.
  • Renault's Timing Belt Recommendations 4 Nov 2006 (Forum)
The AA are called and they are unable to get it started but he says it sound like the timing belt, so we are towed home. Puts car into the renault garage, where it has been serviced for the last 2 and a half years. (car bought second hand). Then told the timing belt has gone and it has caused £1,500 worth of damage to the engine.
