  • Ford Mondeo IV - Low battery 27 Mar 2010 (Forum)
was sat in my year old Mondeo, in a car park the other day, waiting for my wife. The key was in the ignition, but was turned all the way to the left - so there was no radio, air con etc on. Suddenly I noticed a "low battery" warning flash up on the dashboard. Afraid that it might be about to run flat, I started the engine and just let it run for about 10 minutes and then I didn't notice the warning again.
  • Rover 45 (1999 - 2005) - 01 2.0 shorted wire - now no 'constant live' 1 Feb 2010 (Forum)
since then i have nothing powered by constant live - i have lost central locking, interior light, radio memory, door open lights and the buzzer that goes off when i leave the door open with the lights on. today ive gone out and the battery is dead - im presuming ive either a) knackered the alternator or b) have a short somewhere which is causing the whole lot.
  • Volkswagen Golf IV (1998 - 2004) - 02 V5 170PS Engine Noise 28 Nov 2009 (Forum)
The car's done 16000miles and for all I know the noise has been present for ages as I can only hear it when the radio is off. The car drives OK and I can't hear anything when the engine is idling. I had a coil pack go 6months ago but that was successfully fixed. Any suggestions gratefully received.
  • Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 96 1760 Auto will not start 28 Aug 2009 (Forum)
Red light on key pad stays red and green indicates when keys pressed then stays off. Only one red light on dash flashes on radio. Have found alarm button in front of ignition key and reset. Have disconnected connectors under back seat and battery waited for 20 mins and stood on one leg and put finger in ear. Have replaced crank sensor !!!!
  • Uninsured cars and ANPR - again! 26 Aug 2009 (Forum)
On the radio news this morning I heard that something like 1 in 20 cars on the road is uninsured generally and this goes up to 1 in 5 of the cars owned by people in the 17 to 21 age group. The youngsters (bless 'em) apparently say that insurance is too expensive or they were unaware that they required it.
  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 1999 1.8 Focus speedo problems - fixed? 31 Oct 2008 (Forum)
I have been reading the forums and my Focus has what seems to be quite a common problem: * Speedo drops to zero, car loses some power, speedo springs back into life and car resumes its power * Car radio volume seems to reduce when speedo drops * When speedo is on 0 and I slow down power dies completely I have read this on so many posts this morning. What I want to know is, for the people who have had this problem, has it been resolved by a new sensor being fitted?
  • Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 05 1.6 engine warning light 6 Jun 2008 (Forum)
I have an 05 (new shape) 1.6 duratech ford focus. Last night i pulled out of a junction and what sounded like a bang?, difficult to hear over radio and 2 kids. Since then the engine light is coming on and off and it feels like it is running on 3 cylinders? Fine on idle, but if you rev quickly big induction noise as if no air filter, possible coil pack, lambda, crank sensor?
  • Corsa sale - candy from a baby! 3 Oct 2007 (Forum)
It had some rust that needed sorting on the bootlid and the gearbox was more notchy than is normal, no radio and the clock display didnt work, but the guy practically fell over himself to give me £800 for it for his 21 year old daughter. Yes it did have a brand new MOT and 4 months tax, plus a working Cobra alarm, but it was no minter.

  • Replacing the generic Vaux Astra stereo 23 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Hello I've seen the Tevion car radio on sale at Aldi this week & I thought I needed an upgrade. I would like some help from people that might know about doing this. I've removed the cage & bought the new stereo. The new one didn't come with a new cage, but it seems like it fits in the original one ok.
  • Programming a New Key - 2001 Ford Focus 15 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Ford Focus Mk I 98/2001, I have got a blank key cut that fits fine, and opens the doors ok, I have been trying to programme the key using the info' from the miraz site, I think I am right in saying my key uses the radio frequency method. What happens is that I can programme my new key to open and close the doors ok, but it won't start the car. The other problem is that when I have programmed the new key the existing key isn't programmed any more, its as if a new programme is used on the new key, which the original key doesn't recognise, can any body help me with this please, I would like to have both keys working at the same time, I do'nt have a red key, the car was only supplied with one key.
  • Log Book Loans 8 Aug 2006 (Forum)
loans against the house, loans against the pension, loans to pay loans, loans to buy cars, etc. etc. All very worrying. However, I heard one on the radio this morning about "Log Book Loans". Apparantly, if you have a car without finance, you give them the log book, they lend you 40% of the value of the car, and you keep the car to drive around in.
  • Ford Fiesta Zetec knocking/clunking 29 Jun 2006 (Forum)
It's a bit odd as it used to be better in the heat/dry and worse in wet, but I was out yesterday in rain and it was so annoying, but today it's been dry and almost as bad. I used to not hear it over the radio but I can now, but that's cos I'm listening I guess! Any ideas? Thankeeeee If it's suspension etc do you think it will be covered by warranty, it was reg March 2004, and apparently has a 3yr warranty.

  • MG ZR Starting Problem..Grrrr! 4 Apr 2006 (Forum)
No starter, no click, no sound, no petrol pump noise....nothing! The dashboard lights come on. The radio works. But nothing happens in the engine dept when you turn the key. Then count to 10; turn off the ignition, turn it on again and it usually fires up. Doesnt always start 2nd time though. Sometimes you have to repeat this about 6 or 7 times.
  • Vx Vectra battery & Alarm 17 Nov 2005 (Forum)
I guess it was kind of a blessing as it forced me to splice on a +12V battery from a handy UPS using the fused phone car kit wiring loom while I swapped the old one out, so I did not have to and hunt for the radio codes etc.... but I still had my ear defenders on in case that didn't work :o) Thanks in advance

  • M reg Peugeot 306 heater fan switch 26 Jan 2005 (Forum)
I have checked motor, relays, fuses and resistor pack, and all seems OK I started to remove the heater controls & switch a la Haynes, but after removing all it said (various panels, radio, various controls) and unscrewing the control panel I tried to get it out through the slot in the facia, but couldn't manage it. It seems to me that the facia would have to come out, but hope I am wrong.
