  I need a car which is: fuel efficient, costs less than £7000, 5 door, preferably low milage and low emissions, can transport 5 passengers comfortably, I will be using the car for town driving (mostly) but doing less than 10000 a year Does this car exist? I previously had a 1.2 corsa which was economical but small and have just brought a 1.4 fiat bravo active sport, which although seems a nice car, is very uneconomical for town driving, I think.

  My car has developed a Sqeak/whistle from the drive belt area ( it is a similar sound to a screeching fan belt but not so loud) It is not there on tick-over but as soon as I rev the engine the sound can be heard,. I have switched the aircon off and the noise is still there.The drive belt was replaced about 5000 Km ago.

  Back from driving from the south of France to Yorkshire after a nice break. I noticed quite a few speedchecks in France on the auto routes and the N roads.Not far from Calais after Chartres N road 110km to the 130 km roads hand held camara trying to catch drivers.Arriving in the  the UK on the A1 again lots of camaras drivers slowing down speading up again.Do these camaras really make for safer driving or are they here just to make money?

  hi,i gave my sister my 206 hdi for a few weeks.when i got it back and started it up the temp gauge was reading max after a few minutes at idle revs.she had burst the radiator and driving it with no water.got a new radiator and replaced the thermostat,now when i start it up its fine when idiling but after 5 minutes of driving it the coolant temp goes off the scale and the expansion tank is full of steam.does anyone know if its repairable or not?

  Car wouldn't start, thought it was flat battery,  (was turning over with dificulty) but my taxi driving neighbour said frozen diesel!  When it thawed (monday), started it and then took it for a good drive, and SHE who must be obeyed to the sales, where they just happened to have a Poundstretcher and they had battery booster packs for £25,  ( halfords £50) Suddenly remembered  Short runs = battery drain.

  Hi we have recently had a problem with the pump leaking on the rear (the seal where the feed pipes join the main body of the pump) Bosch pump. whilst removing the pump end the drive shaft was damaged (the pump shaft internal) we bought a second hand pump and replaced the end cap and drive and rewired the edc and now the engine will not start at all (checked the timing both valve and pump checked fuel to the injectors all seems to be ok) any suggestions would be helpful

  I have been driving for over 10 years and have fully comp insurance, however my boyfriend has only got a provisional and is not on my insurance. Is it ok for him to drive my car with me as a passenger or is this a huge no no!

  On our very own Doc Martin and detective/spook type series' it seems to be that the no nonsense expert will drive a Lexus. There was a time when every hood was chauffered in a blacked out Benz. Does this placement cause anyone to view the product differently? ps...i always wanted to be Steed and drive that Bentley..nothing to do with Emma Peel of course you understand...or Tara King...gulp..;)

  When driving, my speedometer goes haywire and then the gearbox starts changing up and down as if trying to search for the correct gear, one of a few results, is that when it does decide on a gear to drive in, it seems to be third only, giving me 3500 rpm at 40mph(ish!?)

  I've found that the engine performance goes from being crisp and sharp with a smooth delivery of power when driving in dry conditions to being almost flat at 2500 rpm when driving in the wet. The car does not deliver power smoothly and then suddenly kicks in when the revs are about 3200 rpm almost like a turbo lag.

  Can anyone advise me of how i can erradicate an intermittent clunk sound from the front suspension. Other forums suggest replacing the drive shaft bolts with the XC90 ones as they have a rubber gromitt which minimise the vibration/noise. However, my local Volvo dealer argues that this is not the prescribed fix, instead they suggest the removal of the drive shaft and a replacing a washer and installing a new bolt at the cost of £120.
