  • Do we keep cars long enough? Golf TDI 507,000 mile 26 Feb 2014 (Forum)
Autocar magazine has just taken delivery of a VW Golf TDI with 507,000 miles covered. I wonder how many change because they think their car will start to cost them money in repairs. Often forgetting the value of the cheque being written to get what they hope will be cheaper to run.
  • SEAT Ibiza III (2002 - 2008) - Finance 18 Jun 2008 (Forum)
I'm going to need to get some sort of credit to buy this car but have had problems with this in the past which is still being sorted (no CCJ's or anything yet, just defaults). I have enough to cover insurance and the first £1k, should I try to get the extra and then go for a car or wait until I find a car then go for the finance?

  • 4 diif makes - Electric car range 4 Apr 2023 (Forum)
While you would never run a car until it stop, and to be honest they all had fair warning from the car to find a charging point, it never occurred to me that this would be an issue, I also question why they would do it in the first place since the whole point of having a secure cover on the fuel tank is to prevent people from stealing fuel from your car.

  • Ford Mondeo Estate - Clutch wear 2 May 2014 (Forum)
Total cost £935 for the new clutch, paid for by Motability, apparently without questions. I would have thought that Ford's warranty would have covered this after such a short time and low mileage. Is this normal? I would have considered this totally unacceptable if I owned the car, Motability cars are on a lease system and the Ford dealer said that I should just accept is as it was being paid for by Motabily.
  • Ford Galaxy (2006 - ) - 07 1.8 Rear Door Handle & Trim Falling off 2 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Just so you know, the door handle is electronic, so it is not supposed move as such but you grip the handle to put it upwards. The car is about 13months old and still has 2yrs of the warranty left. When I contacted my local dealer (who I purchased the car from), they were not sure if this problem would be covered by the warranty - stating that trim is only covered in the first year???
  • Parking Enforcement Criminals 24 Jun 2006 (Forum)
I saw the funny side of it the next day - you couldn't make it up Shirley Hatcher Mrs Hatcher said: "I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it. "My car was covered in polka dots from the paint they had used. "I was fuming, absolutely fuming, all I could think was what sort of idiot did this. Occasionally things go wrong Southampton City Council A spokeswoman for Southampton City Council said the authority would cover the costs of repairs to her car.

  • Our Ford Focus was diagnosed with a slipping clutch, so why won't the Ford warranty cover it? 9 Sep 2010 (Ask HJ)

  • Best way to get a car home? 9 Jan 2005 (Forum)
It's declared SORN and on my parents driveway, but can't stay there long term. It's currently covered by his insurance, but I can't see this staying the case, if he cant afford to tax the motor, he's not going to cover his DD next month. So, i'll need to get the car 150 miles back to my house & into the garage, where it was before loaning it to him.

  • Dealership Woes... 17 Oct 2002 (Forum)
As 10k miles drew near, I booked it into the 'local' dealership (by local, I mean the nearest one which is a good 25 or 30 miles from my house) to get it serviced and to fix a minor imperfection on the passenger leather seat. No problem, said they and toddled off to do the work. Picked the car up after the service after having wandered aimlessly around town for a while due to their refusal of a courtesy car for servicing work and found they'd arranged to order a new seat cover and speaker to replace.

  • Ford Puma - Ford warranty advice please 5 Mar 2025 (Forum)
I have recently noticed that there seems to be an issue with the gearbox and 2nd gear very occasionally doesn’t seem to engage properly. Before I take this further I was wondering if this is something likely to be covered under the three year ford warranty (if a problem is identified) the car has only done 13000 miles. Like a Wally I can’t find any of the paperwork when I bought the car and would just like a heads up before I call the garage.
  • Peugeot 307 SW - 2005 Peugeot 307 1.6hdi Engine issues 5 Apr 2019 (Forum)
Consistency between fan speed and setting. I have replaced the air filter and the rocker cover gasket so far as the air filter didn't look although it had been replaced for ages and there was a leak from the rocker cover.  Any assistance with the above errors would be greatly appreciated, the car has had a turbo fitted within the last 2 years.
