• Renault Clio 1 Petrol (1991 - 1998) - 95 1171 Turns over but will not start 5 Sep 2009 (Forum)
  1995 Renault Clio 1 petrol - 1171cc ("Energy" engine) Old Clio usually runs well, but has had a long term habit of not starting. When this happens, the engine turns over (fast ? as if little compression) but makes no attempt to start or even splutter or cough.

  I have just came across a few threads where they have seemed to fix the fault by cleaning the throttle body and caused down to corrosion on the pins!!!???!! and Renault will try to say you need a new one.. I don?t have the money to start fixing lots of things as I?ve only jus paid 1450 for it? all my savings. Does the above soound right?? could this be fixed without costing hardy anything??

  i crused home at 70 all the way. to be honest i have driven her like it for now a month but i live in cornwall and the gouing up hill thing is driving me crazy. Last week renault told me power loss could be the EGR valve, So i bought one and changed it,whilst in the process of changing i saw that the hose from the mass air flow sensor had a hole so i bought a new one as well,just to be sure OK to the point, after changing the EGR and air pipe there is no difference and my car will still not go up hills ??

  I keep looking for another 2 gears to change up through I've come to the conclusion that the only function of cars like this is for Renault dealers to use as courtesy cars, so when you get your own car back, it benefits by comparison ! Now.... it was supplied with the screenwash reservoir completely empty. If I fill it up, and leave a half empty bottle of screenwash on the passenger seat, how much would it be fair to charge the dealer ;-)

  My requirements are: 1. I have generally owned Renaults and VW's and have had good service from both makes. However I might consider something different since it will still leave me with two Renaults and a VW, I won't feel a traitor. But I am not a badge snob. 2.

  Met some aquaintances this morning, Happy with their new car,     EXCEPT for it keeps locking them out and Dacia have to send someone out to open it. Dealer clueless.   Is this the old renault style keycard (but chunkier) problems..

  Anyone else tried pressing it while the car is still moving? I had a renault scenic hire car some time back, thought I'd give it a go on an empty road at about 15mph. It braked as though an elephant had left foot braked! If you have, are all these systems the same?

  'Ere! How about this-- Chap gets out of his nice new Renault on B&Q car park. Locks it up and goes into the store. Lovely quiet engine. He didn't notice but people walking past noticed.. The engine was still running! Who (apart from the French) could design a car that'll do that?

  i have a Renault Clio 1.4 p reg and the front wheel bolts have stripped off, do i need a whole new hub or are the threads on the discs? do i just need to buy some new discs?

  I've been phoning around trying to find the cheapest cat for my R reg 1998 1.8 8v Renault Laguna.(manual-petrol). I've been asked does it have a Lamda? Its cheaper if it hasnt one of these things. What is it and does anyone know if this model would have one? Thanks for any help.

  Why do Renault and PSA bother making RHD versions of cars like the Vel Satis / 607/ C6? You see a fair number in France and a few in Italy, but they're a serious rarity over here and in Ireland/ Surely there can't be that many senior diplomats in RHD countries...

  hi,could anyone tell me why my wipers on 1998 renault keep stopping in the middle of the screen.will not go back to starting position.i have to push them down manually.even if you turn the ignition of when they are flat they go back to middle of screen.
