This isn't one of my usual diatribes about diesels, BTW, it's just physics - you simply don't need low reciprocating mass valvegear on a low revving engine, so I can only assume it's done for show, or perhaps because the heads are shared with a petrol model. Does anyone know? The Colt review mentioned the new Renault Modus, which is now being advertised on the box, and quite neat it looks. I imagine the Colt will remain the better buy, but I did recently see a Renault Trafic Van with Nissan badges, so who knows what you're getting these days?

  • Megane Wheel nut torque 1 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Can anybody tell me what the wheel nut torque for a 56 reg Renault Megane Sport Tourer with 16" alloys should be. And before anybody says RTFM, it isn't in the manual, - far too technical for that cheers -- Go on, get out of the car... http://www.mikes-walks.co.uk
  • Company Car Choice 12 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I'm not after opinions on either, just a one word answer which will be "Golf" or "Scenic". Choice for company car is VW Golf 1.9TDi 105 S, or Renault Grand Scenic 1.5DCi 106 Dynamique. Which would you choose? Cheers, DB

  • megane service cost 22 Apr 2005 (Forum)
my son has a megane 1.5dci and has been quoted £380 for its 2nd service. he thinks that is steep. I have no idea, is he right ? still has over a year warranty left, so not keen to use non Renault for service in case it invalidates warranty.

  • Remote central locking failure. 21 Mar 2002 (Forum)
The remote central locking on my Renault Clio 1.2RN (1998) has failed whilst in use. The light on the key fob still pulses but nothing happens when it's pointed at the car's sensor. Renewing the batteries made no difference. Any solutions?
  • Citroen Synergie TD. 23 Sep 2001 (Forum)
One of my customers is considering trading a Renault Espace petrol for a '96 Synergie TD. I have read the Car by Car guide on these and have my own views as a Citroen supporter. However any views from users (Darcy?) as to these as a long term family vehicle.
  • Iveco/Renault/Ford - Torn between buying a used or new van. 9 Apr 2021 (Forum)
Every time I look at a van I think how did the dealer acquire it? Why did the original owner sell it? I've seen a 2018 plate Renault Master with less than 40K at £18K with no vat, he's got two of them, one still with 1 year main dealership warranty, but I still think there must be some catch, then I look at sellers feedback and it always has some bad or some obviously fake!
  • Renault Grand Scenic - Dangerous fault 2 days after signing waiver 10 Dec 2018 (Forum)
On Sunday after 2 days of heavy rain I had a look in the car and the driver side floor cubby hole was full of water. I’ve since discovered that water ingress is a common problem with renaults. Where do I stand legally? Surely the dealer has sold me a car that’s not fit for purpose and is dangerous to drive. Thanks

  • Renault Clio II (2001 - 2007) - 02 1.2 Starts then wont start 14 Feb 2010 (Forum)
(removed plugs 1 at a time for visual check, and used a voltage presence testing screwdriver (when engine is running this flashes with the ign pulses)) If you stop the engine, and start it again within a minute or so, it will run fine again. Almost every sensor has been replaced in the last year by Renault, new crank sense loom, metal crash box removed, new coil and leads, relays by the battery checked and terminals cleaned, (although it will run from cold and can be restarted when hot) Its almost as if something that energises the coil, cuts out after ign is turned off and is failing to switch on again after its been run...
  • Renault Clio II (2001 - 2007) - 03 1.2 sudden loss of power 21 Nov 2009 (Forum)
It has had a few electrical problems recently and I have removed the ECU black box cover and repaired the wiring. it has also had in the last couple of weeks a new coil pack and plugs (from Renault) a new MAP sensor. the previous problem of rough idling and stalling i think was a combo of all this things but especially the throttle body which i have cleaned. The Ecu has not stored any codes but i was told when looking at the live data that the cat didnt seem to be working.
