Audi A1 - Audi A1 v Nissan Juke 30 Jan 2016 (Forum)
I am in the process of buying a new car and I've narrowed it down to the Nissan Juke or the Audi A1. Finance wise it's coming in at about £650 difference over the course of the contract, but the monthly payments are cheaper on the Audi (£185pcm) than the Nissan (£225pcm) even if the Audi's more expensive over the course of the contract. -
BMW X1 (2016) - GAP insurance: Worth it for "free" ?? 8 Jan 2016 (Forum)
Am in process of buying a new car (BMW X1), and have negotiated a £500 discount off the new car, as well as a decent price trade in for my existing car, and am overall satisfied with the price. The dealer has now emailed me finance forms, and has additionally (without discussion with me) informed me that he has "been able" to agree with his manager to provide me with GAP insurance for free (ie is listed as me buying it for £399, and is now giving me an £899 discount, effectively making this free). -

citroen c1 - Buying a car unseen from a dealer 15 Oct 2013 (Forum)
We checked the model & mileage on line and the dealer we visited was able to arrange the vehicle to be delivered to their premises. We agreed to purchase the car through finance over 3 years. I had a brief opportunity to look at the car when it arrived and there was a dent in the passenger door and one of the alloy wheels was quite badly scuffed. My question is, does this transaction come under the distance selling regulations 2000 as the car was unseen at the time of the agreement in which case I believe we have a right to cancel the order? -
Ford Fiesta - Advice wanted 22 Jul 2010 (Forum)
I have some debt from University( approx 1000 overdraft), but need a car for my job, will my chances of finance be massively reduced? Or will I pay a sky-high fee? We could afford to buy a car outright for 3500, or I could afford around 150 a month. Ideally I don't want to be paying out a lot of money every month but equally i want something reliable and economical that isn't a total banger!! -
Skoda Yeti SUV - 2004 Xtrail replacement 11 Apr 2010 (Forum)
However I no longer really need all the space, and am put off by the high VED rating and relatively poor mpg, but attracted by a 0% finance deal. I have tried a Yeti, 140 hp awd diesel and was quite impressed though the ride was alot firmer than I'm used to. It's low co2, good mpg, low insurance are all attractive. I would like to compare the 170 engine but dealers mainly seem to have 110 hp diesel, some 2wd versions. -

Hi there. Am new to this site but wondered if anyone had any advice for me? My finance was stupidly caught drink driving in the early hours of yesterday morning. Lexus - When does it make sense to buy new ? 29 Sep 2008 (Forum)
I took this to another Lexus dealer who also said, without hesitation, they would match it. The car im 'now' looking at is 25k new, so down to 21K. No finance involved. Im struggling even to beat this price on the internet, they have also offered me a not too bad part ex (not far off book price). As this offer doesnt apply to part used cars on the forecourt they are almost twisting my arm to buy a new one rather than part used 12/18 mnths old for not alot less. -
Main dealer APR ?? 6 Jul 2008 (Forum)
It's very modern , spacious and filled with scurrying suits . I always look at their stock, and have noticed all their cars carry finance quotes at 14.7%.. this has been the same rate since at least last year. Are they real ? Their customers, I'd have thought , are either cash buyers or savvy hard working self - made types who know the cost and value of money to the extent they know 14.7% is a right royal rip - off . -
SEAT Ibiza II (1993 - 1999) - Ibiza GTi Cupra Sport - things to look for?? 26 Apr 2008 (Forum)
It's a T '99, 75000 miles, it'll need a service but as I'll probably only use it until the next MOT is nearly up and then flog it against something new on finance, financially it makes sense. Part of the appeal of course is having what is effectively a 2.0 litre Polo ;) If I go for it, can anyone please give me buying tips or things to look for? Doesn't seem to be a lot about it in the car by car review on here. -
how difficult is it to buy a new car !!! 19 Jun 2007 (Forum)
1 dealer I went to offered at least 1000 more in PX without any pushing & could offer the exact model spec & colour I wanted & deliver in 2-4 weeks. 3 out of 4 didn't even know that the manufacture offered a 50/50 purchase deal that saved a fortune over there normal finance & they didn't even know it exsisted. I don't ever want to hear a salesman winge again I don't sympathise -
HJ Mini tests 19 May 2007 (Forum)
I totted up the cost of options & the whole package seemed more an exercise in 'options trading' (just like 'finance deals' are the real money-spinner for some main dealers) - the base car is made to look almost unattractive, but the options list soon makes the car look overpriced, imho, when compared to the alternatives. -
Log Book Loans 8 Aug 2006 (Forum)
However, I heard one on the radio this morning about "Log Book Loans". Apparantly, if you have a car without finance, you give them the log book, they lend you 40% of the value of the car, and you keep the car to drive around in. And they emphasised "no credit checks". Presumably they take the car if you don't pay. -
Smart move? 30 May 2006 (Forum)
Attracted by the finance offer (£99 down, £99 a month for 3 years) as a PCP on the Smart "Purestyle" base model. Went to Lincoln yesterday and they had one left : Black frame, white panels (Looks like it needs a low profile red roof light bar a crest on each door and "Protect and serve" below!) -
There is always a gullible car buyer.. 9 Mar 2006 (Forum)
It was a clean car with only 33k miles and full history.however we only paid £1800 and I sold it for £3995 financed over 4 years with an extended warranty,a service plan and our own insurance,so i should make around £x for the deal,it wasnt difficult, I just hung around the guy and chatted ,i told him i previously worked for x and his cousin works there as well and a wee connection was made. -
Calculations correct? 30 Nov 2004 (Forum)
Cash option Income 1 Cash total £6750 p.a. gross = £3982pa (less 41% tax) 2 Add saving from no P11D eg £111 per month (BMW 320d)= £1332pa 3 At 30000 miles p.a (10,000 business) tax allowances £4,000pa Total = £9314 or £776 per month Expenditure 1 £20,000 financed over 5 years = 4668pa 2 Depreciation pa. aprox 20% (not scientific) £4,000 3 Servicing etc £800pa (estimate) 4 Insurance £400 5 Tax £160(?) Total = £10028 or £835 per month Car option 1 Choice of sensible motor either new or up to 1 year old £22,000 purchase price 2 0.22p per mile, no tax, insurance etc to worry about 3 Tax liability £111 per month (@40%) Are these figures correct and is this a no brainer car option? -
The bus: your opinions please? 16 Sep 2004 (Forum)
Anyway, if any of you have read my profile you will see that I have recently given up my (sorry if this sounds smug) quite high-powered, well paid job in finance to be a bus driver. Am I as mad as a penguin? I don't think so as my stress levels have plummeted. Sadly so has my income, but I think that it's a small price to pay. Anyway, I'm waffling. As a newcomer to the world of public transport I'd be intrigued to know the view that you all hold on the bus as a mode of transport. -
MOT certificate mislaid - problem? 8 Sep 2004 (Forum)
And the local Vehicle Inspectorate tell me they can't issue a duplicate, because they have no records. So, must I face the prospect of financing a new MOT test? Oz (as was) -
keeper/owner 24 Mar 2004 (Forum)
A post by Volvoman yesterday made me wonder: As the DVLA website states, the V5 shows only the registered keeper of the vehicle, and that person is not necessarily the vehicle?s legal owner. If a car is bought new from a dealer, and paid for outright, without finance, then there will be a bill of sale, which is probably reasonable proof of ownership. But if a car is bought privately from say its third registered keeper, how do I know that he is not selling it from under the nose of its legal owner?
