  • Focus Conundrum 2 Sep 2013 (Forum)
Also looked at the Fusion (to me this looks like the early-2000s Fiesta), but swmbo likes the slightly raised driving position and the easy-access boot (no boot lip). We also both liked the Nissan Note (the use of space is fantastic), but my reservation is that there's less metal around you in the event of an accident, it feels tinny in comparison to the Focus. I also suggested the Nissan Cube, but she saw a photo of one and veto'd that idea :o( Budget is around 6k.

  • Japanese versus the rest. 21 Feb 2003 (Forum)
(Apparently). So why don't the owners of Pug, Citroen and Vauxhall all drive Toyotas, Mazdas and Nissans? (Note I said owners rather than drivers - if your company is paying the bill I can quite see that you'll choose the one *you* want to drive rather than worry about the bills). We have a Yaris AND a Maestro so have a foot in each camp.
  • Toyota Auris - Toyota Auris Hatchback VS Estate Internal Sizing 21 Mar 2025 (Forum)
I am on the lookout for a new car and need one with a bit more ample overall/passenger space in the rear as now have a 1 year old with a rear facing child seat which will be used up until 5/6 years of age, so the next 4 years at least. Currently in my Nissan Almera hatchback, with the child seat present, the front passenger has little to no room, a passenger can fit although quite uncomfortably. I can't find the relevant information online and until I go view a few and actually test them I won't know.
  • New job, new car 6 Feb 2025 (Forum)
Something electric might be suitable as I have a big drive and can easily charge at home.  My heart tells me to buy a small Fiat for the fun factor. But my head says buys a Nissan Leaf. Ideally I would like something that easily seats four, is an auto so my wife can drive and isn’t too costly to run (although with doing so few miles, economy isn’t necessarily an issue).
  • Renault - Renault to close 4 factories in France. 3 Jun 2020 (Forum)
Tuesday evening, the CGT union section of the Morbihan site said it was very worried. The Flins-sur-Seine (Yvelines) factory assembles the electric city car Zoe and the Nissan Micra. It currently has 2,600 employees. The Choisy-le-Roi (Val-de-Marne) factory employs 263 people in the repair of engines and gearboxes used as re-use parts. That of Dieppe (Seine-Maritime) has 386 employees and assembles the Alpine A110 sports model.

Honda Jazz 2005- TC or CVT ( are these boxes reliable?) Dont seem good at higher speeds  Suzuki Swift - Tc box and reliable? Nissan note - not sure how these compare to the Jazz. Are they reliable and good on the motorway? BMW 320i 170 bhp, has decent fuel economy.  Is there any other cars you would recommend?

First service, which was actually paid for by the selling dealer was £124, so no quibbles there. Off to Amman shortly so will be driving the Nissan Kicks out there. little trip on the side to Aqaba for a few days winter sun as well.
  • First Car help 16 Mar 2018 (Forum)
My budget is £4000 and needs to be an automatic and in insurance group 10 or below. I did narrow my options down to a Honda jazz 1.4 cvt or Nissan Micra 1.2/1.4 I have found examples of both with only 30000. Does any body have experience of driving these cars and if so which would they reccomend or is there any other cars that anybody would reccomend I don’t really want anything above a 1.4 as the insurance estimates for both jazz and micra are £2000.
  • Small car - able to take a double bass 3 Dec 2016 (Forum)
Strange request, looking for a car for my sister who is looking for another car (budget circa £4k) to take the place of her trusty but somewhat battered Wreg Mondeo Estate  1) If possible she would like a smaller car as parking is difficult on her street 2) Must be capable of carrying a double bass! (6ft long!) - It would fit in a Skoda Octavia with the seats folded (just - I've measured!) , Nissan Note looks interesting with seats down and passenger seat reclined  (not measured yet) but I'm not sure re drivers seat comfort 3) Must be comfortable for a tall driver(6ft) 4) Reasonably economical but NOT a diesel 5) Probably manual 6) Suitable for long journeys Any stage left suggestions?
  • Toughest car ever made 4 Oct 2016 (Forum)
The days when a simple well maintained Diesel engine could cover massive mileages with little grief for owners. I've been in a Nissan Bluebird 2.0dLX with over 1m miles on its original engine, a Mk II Granada 2.5DL with more than 750k, Isuzu engined Cavaliers with 500k upwards, a Peugeot E7 HDI with 850k and I've sold a Toyota Carina 2.0 XLd with 452k which was running and driving fine.
  • ? - What family car 18 May 2016 (Forum)
Hi We recently sold our nissan juke and bought a peugeot 308. We have now discovered we are going to have another child and feel that the 308 os to cramp in the cabin for two adults and two kids, we also miss the height of the juke to an extent.
  • Crackdown on driving whilst holding your mobile 25 Dec 2015 (Forum)
My wife, who is not the most techno savvy person, is fully able to understand and implement the process needed to sych her new iPhone to the Nissan system in her Juke without requiring the assistance of husband or either of two teenager sons.  If she can do it, why not all these younger women? I wonder if these cars are really 'theirs' so they can't be bothered to spend two minutes synching the phones if the car is being returned the next day......
  • Ford Mondeo 1.8 - Do I need to buy a diesel? 11 Mar 2013 (Forum)

Small hatch - Ford Fiesta Small family hatch - Opel Astra Medium size hatch - Mazda 6                                      Opel Insignificant                                      Nissan QashQai, with the latest front design - overall design IMO nicked from                             a now defunct manufacturer  Posh medium sized - Mercedes C-Class saloon Larger exec saloon  - Jaguar XF - really zilch competition apart from Volvo S80 'Four wheel drive'     - Range Rover Evoque 5 door                                     - Infiniti EX The above are of course just my opinion.
  • Citroen C3 diesel last of the old shape 7 Jul 2011 (Forum)
I know the petrol versions aren't too hot, the 1.1 is very slow, but the dealer showed me a 59 plate 1.4 HDI C3 with all the accessories for just under £ 7500. 74 mpg on the open road and 60 mpg around town look very tempting when you consider my 55 Nissan Almera will do 45 mpg tops. Also £ 30 annual tax and low insurance look good. As I am likely to be considerably upping my annual mileage from 8000 a year due to a long distance relationship, the salesman said the diesel Citroen would make sense.
  • Ford Mondeo - Noisey When cold 24 May 2011 (Forum)
Hi further to my earlier post about my faulty Nissan Xtrail i have decided to get shut, today i have been looking at a Passat diesel 2.0tdi i work on these engines at work and leaning towards one.  Anyway while i was at the dealers they had a very nice 2007 Ford Mondeo 2.0tdci 115 Ghia with all the bits, i have never been keen on the mondeo but after a test drive i was very impressed, my only concern was how noisey it was when cold, is this normal from this model?
  • Reliable used car 2 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Help! My Nissan Tino has been a reliable car for the last nine years but unfortunately with age (it happens to us all) it just isn't worth keeping it any longer. So time for a change. I'm looking for a car that'll get me up and down a motorway (60 miles a day) in reasonable comfort with a reasonable MPG.
  • XJ pulls a bird! 20 Aug 2009 (Forum)
Kind of restores my faith in birds. For the last ten months an angry robin has been attacking my Nissan Qashqai and using it as his lavatory. Very odd question, but have any of you got other bird meets car stories - apart from roadkill reports? Ever pondering, Ali PS is there anywhere to post photos?
