Best six or seven seater? 9 Mar 2003 (Forum)
I loathe people carriers, won't buy a Discovery as I want reliablity, and sadly a look today at the much acclaimed Nissan XTrail indicates it's only a five seater. So, an initial cast around narrows it down to a Volvo V70 or slightly elderly Merc estate. Any other ideas on this one to help? Looking to spend an absolute maximum of 20K, hopefully less as it'll ease the pain of the first round of internal and external damage by the kids. -
Speed-sensitive central locking 24 Jan 2003 (Forum)
I know this will be a difficult one. The SouthEast Pacific version of my Nissan Maxima QX (Cefiro over there) has speed-sensitive central locking. Its function is to lock all the door when I put it in Drive or when the car exceeds 15 mph. After playing with the car's remote, I can activate that function but by pressing the unlock button once after I'm inside the car, but the car does it only once. -
How much is a Focus now at auction? 22 Nov 2002 (Forum)
I used to go to auction but havsn't been for months so no clue what others are paying. Also, I find the ones in Autotrader not that cheap. I currently drives an N-reg Nissan QX 3.0 SEL which I have a buyer willing to pay 3500 pounds. Is that about right? Can I get the focus without adding much cash on top? Thank you very much. Best wishes, Garrison -
A4 1.8T SPARK PLUGS 29 Sep 2001 (Forum)
THE AUDI A4 HAS SERVICE INTERVALS OF 40,000 MILES BETWEEN PLUG CHANGES , IT WILL TAKE ME FOUR YEARS TO REACH THIS MILAGE , WILL THEY BE A PROBLEM REMOVING THEM AFTER THIS TIME , ON PREVIOUS CARS (NISSAN PRIMERA'S) I'VE REMOVED THEN EVERY YEAR REGREASED THE THREADS , CHECKED THE GAP , GENERALY INSPECTED ECT. A TEN MINUETE JOB. HOWEVER WITH THIS CAR I'M NOT SURE HOW TO REMOVE THE PLUGS FACED WITH A SEPERATE IGNITION COIL OVER EACH PLUG SO IVE LEFT THEM IN FOR THE LAST 18 MONTHS , BUT WOULD I BE BEST CHECKING THEM ? -
Replacement for Toyota Yaris Mk 1 auto 31 Oct 2023 (Forum)
Ideally the replacement must be a small hatchback with a Torque Converter auto box or a reliable alternative. First thoughts are a Mazda 2 but does a Nissan Note have a TC gearbox as these sell for less money? And when did the Yaris move over to the MMT gearbox which had such a bad reputation for reliability ? -

Renault Modus (2004 - ) - Anyone with a Modus automatic? 22 Jul 2015 (Forum)
How smooth, or otherwise is the gearbox? Any specific problems with them - I see on the car by car breakdown it is Nissan based rather than a renault box? There seem to be quite a lot available at around 3 years old - are they likely to be motability cars? Is this a good or bad thing? Any other thoughts on a small(ish) auto for around £6000? -
MPV which is best ? 29 Jun 2012 (Forum)
Hi I am looking for an MPV at the moment my choices are Nissan Almera Tino Petrol and Diesel and Vauxhall Zafira . Can anyone please give me an opinion on all three cars to get . Old, Crude Off-Roaders 11 Apr 2009 (Forum)
I've just spent a bit of time down memory lane looking at the off-roaders that I desired and, ultimately, bought in the early 1990s. I had a Ford Maverick, aka Nissan Terrano 2, and thought I was king of the road sitting way up above the traffic. OK, the performance was terrible, cornering was a nightmare and braking from speed a lottery. At least I hadn't bought a Vauxhall Frontera! -
Ford Mondeo IV (2007 - ) - New shape Mondeo or Accord- 2 2 Jan 2009 (Forum)
A couple of months ago I posed the question, should I buy a new shape Mondeo or an Accord, well after months of dithering including sidetracking completely and considering a Nissan Qashqai, I have put a deposit down on a 2008 Mondeo 2.0 diesel titanium estate in tonic blue, it looks lovely, but one drawback for me, the previous owner was obviously a smoker, have any of you any tips on how to get rid of that lingering odour, I am an ex smoker and therefore probably one of the worst and I hate the blooming smell! -
What is a "mainstream" manufacturer? 29 Oct 2008 (Forum)
By the same token, some people don't seem to consider Honda or Toyota as being mainstream either, despite selling more cars than Nissan that is. Confused! So are Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Hyundai, Kia, Daewoo, Proton, Skoda, Seat, Chrysler etc etc mainstream or not? -
Smallish automatic 3 Jun 2008 (Forum)
My other half's parents are looking to downsize from their vectra auto to something smaller. They have about 6k + their vectra to spend. They were thinking something like the nissan micra auto in diesel but I am not sure whether that is the best thing. They were thinking of switching from petrol to diesel but as they do less than 15k a year then I can't see the point and a switch at their years might be more prone to misfueling than one done when younger. -

British Workers & Foreign Management 2 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Honda have just annonced the creation of an additional 700 jobs in Swindon due to demand of the new Honda Civic. This is now on top of the jobs with the Mini and new models going to Nissan Sunderland as well. It just goes to demonstrate that the British worker can be the best in the world with the right leadership. And with leadership I mean good design, quality products, being respected as a worker and getting a fair days pay and being listened to with your ideas for improving your process. -
So, did I get a good deal then? 2 Jul 2005 (Forum)
After taking some sage advice on here recently I've taken the plunge and bought a 95 M-plate Nissan QX for £750. I'm happy with the price, but I'm interested to know how low these cars are really valued. The car is the 2 litre V6 - with 144k, 10 months MOT, fNsh (quite substantially overserviced, in fact - with £700 spent this year ) excellent aircon, dark met blue with grey velour interior. -
Car hire and driving in Japan 14 Feb 2005 (Forum)
Has anyone hired a car in Japan or driven in Japan? Also, is anyone aware of any car factory tours? - I wouldn't mind going around the Nissan or Toyota plants and would rather make arrangements now instead of waiting until I get there. -
Changing Tastes 5 Aug 2004 (Forum)
Hyundai Elantra 2. Honda Accord 3. Honda Civic 4. Hyundai Sonata 5. Toyota Camry 6. Hyundai Sante Fe 7. Nissan Frontier 8. Ford Explorer 9. Toyota Corolla 10. Honda Odessey 11. Hyundai Accent 12. Mercury Grand Marquis 13. Toyota Tundra 14. Toyota Tacoma 15. Ford F-150 A pretty uninspiring selection for sure, but it does illustrate how much Japan and Korea are dominating the market. -
Booted Almeras 4 May 2004 (Forum)
She really wanted something with a boot and the options were rather limited. In the end it came down to a Ford Focus saloon or a Nissan Almera saloon. The Almera turned out to be a better bet than the Focus, but why have I, SWMBO or anyone else I know, not seen a single Almera saloon on the road? The Almera saloon to my mind looks far more elegant than the hatchback.
