  While on holiday in the US, I saw spray cans for disinfecting the heater inlet and air-con ducting to prevent the growth of bacteria and fungus. Is anything similar available in the UK?

  On 2 occasions, it switched on by itself. I knew the air-con was working by hearing the radiator/condenser fans come on at low speed and feeling the engine revs dip as the compressor kicked in. Now, whatever the position of the air-con switch, the condenser fans are running, but the compressor is not and, tragically, no cold air comes out of the heater vents.

  This, I was told, had nothing to do with the recent work as it was on the other side of the car. This issue was not there before the air con was re-charged. I have been told it 'one of those things' and that the solution would be to take the dashboard out and replacing the air con unit. I'm not convinced.... I believe the air con gas has been over filled and its that that is causing the problem and possibly more damage.

  The car has had a new air con radiator and it was recharged or whatever they do to it last October as someone reversed their tow bar through the rad. Has anyone got any ideas what it might be before i take it in and get told it will cost me loads to put right like they always tell you,it is booked in next week for a air con check at the garage that repaired it after the damaged air con rad.

  The leaks leave a stain hence I dont think they are water. The garage checked the car and say this is simply the air con discharge and is normal - but our air con (climate control system) still pumps through a major smell of diesel when sitting at a junction (ie no air flowing through car) The garage mentioned some kind of air con service they can do for £30 which will 'clean' the system - any ideas what this may be and whether it will address the diesel smell coming through.

  Please help. I have had the AA out to my galaxy 1997 2.0glx, they told me the air compressor has seized up which is why my belt snapped and told me it was a costly job. However if I wanted I could get a belt that did not drive the air con, but would have to do without air con, loooking at how much I have been quoted for air con, I decided to do with out it, but the Ford garage I have contacted say they have to put the belt round the compressor and cannot fit a belt to drive everything else without the air con.

  Hi Looks like the Air Con unit could do with a Recharge It's working but not what i'd call Ice Cold. As their seems to be no prospect of a Summer at least in Glasgow.   Is climate control just the same as Air con? I am asking because the Vitara has climate control with a dial that reads: 18c -23c -28c, I would like to know how 18c on climate control can ever be classed as "cold"? I thought that air con had to be roundabout 8c.

  The vehicle is a 2014 1.6 petrol that l purchased in June 2024. The air con wasn't working when l bought it. In the spring of this year l used the Halfords free air con check, which in reality is simply putting a little gas in to see if it holds pressure, which it did, then asking if you want it regassed.

  After feeling a bit stupid, I carried on but checked again later.......still doing it. If the air con is switched off the leaking stops. Does the air con have fluid to run it, or is it just excess condensation?? Sorry to sound so stupid but I havent has the luxury of it before! Your comments appreciated.

  The air con is running nice and cold (when it's working) and one of the rad fans cuts in (as I believe it should) whenever the air-con button is pressed. Any ideas? Cheers DP

  hi, i have a problem with my wifes car, she has a focus edge 1,6 2005, the problem is the air con pump is coming on and clicking on/off also the fan is coming on causing the revs to drop nearly stalling the car, all this happens even though the air con is switched off, has anyone had a simular problem. thanks

  I recently had my air con regassed at Kwik Fit,  as it was running cool - not freezing cold as I am used to. It has only been three months and the air con is again running cool and takes ages to 'cool'  the car.
