  This morning, after having driven 30 miles and parked, my 2009 Nissan Micra Visia wouldn't start. I turned the key but there were no electrics - no display, no radio, no electric windows - no engine turn over - nothing. However with the key in the on position, gradually the display flickered and more and more electrics came back. 90 minutes later the radio returned and the car turned over but wouldn't catch.

  Hi all, is it possible to upgrade my BMW 1 Series trim from the basic to the M SPORT trim? At present it does not have the arm rest and has the basic radio system installed. Is it possible to bring it to a garage and get it upgraded to the M SPort trim which includes the arm rest and also upgrade my radio system too? If so how much? Please note i have not yet purchased any veichle, I am just weighing up costings and sacrifices.

  There is a cover over the positive terminal so three of the caps are under that. A car battery specialist has told me that I will need to reset my radio codes if I take the cover off! Its obviously no good only checking 3 of the cells and I do not fancy resetting the radio codes each time I check the battery.  I am tempted to simply rely on the green eye and forget about checking the cells.

  The car has a standard Clarion CD player and I'm unsure if it is a coded system like most in car units. I've looked through the literature I have but can't find a book relating to the CD/ radio - nor can I find any reference to a radio code. Is this unit coded or not? I'm just being cautious for the future - if it is coded, then I'll need to get the code. Thanks Robin the Technician

  Not the most of inspiring of drives in an uninspiring SUV in horrid weather. The roads were quiet which was a good start, radio was tuned to Radio 4 for the lunchtime news. Amazingly I was able to drive the roads quite comfortably at the signed or National Speed Limit and as soon as I joined the Dual at a steady 75. This programme came on and added to the beauty of the drive - listen to it and I defy you not to recognise that there is some joy still left in the world.

  M3 was solid between J4 and J2, and M25 anticlockwise from 11-15. The cause was reported on the radio as a broken down crane partially blocking the exit slip road at J11 of the M25. Then a short while later it came across the radio that the crane was not actually broken down, but was in use, repairing some road signs.

  While the car was parked up on our driveway awaiting the garage (arranged by insurance co) to pick it up, it was broken into and the radio stolen. Obviously, this has nothing to do with the accident, but we were hoping the car would be written off so we wouldn't need to worry about replacing the window and radio. However, we have heard today that they intend to repair the damage.

  Now I have got the hang of most of the system, but not all of it. I am thinking of the future re-sale here as well. Where can I get the manual for my sat nav/cd/radio? the car is an 04 reg so it's not that old is it ? And if I want to update the maps can I do that easily enough? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

  I have installed a lovely new SONY radio /CD in the Galaxy and FM reception seems fine. However, MW and LW is a bit poor and picks up all the interference from Engine electrics. I read that the tyep of aerial fitted to the side window has an amp associated with it which I can power from the radio's electric aerial output.

  Also on the head unit there is a grey/yellow wire which is energised when head unit is powered up this wire is a power output according to the sticker on the radio but i cant find that wire at the amp where does it go? there is another wire a white/purple which runs from head unit to the amp which again according to the sticker on the radio is a pci bus lead what is this for?
