  My interest in the CO2 debate was warmed by the loading for band G at £400 - seems fair enough But - I have an Audi A6 2.7TDI - my usual economy is around 45mpg - today I did 300 miles at 49mpg. Why am I band F - very grateful not to be band G of course! - but surely 45mpg is about average (better than average?)

  I have just had me Audi A4 2.0 diesel in for its first long life service at 18000 and when I checked the oil the next day it was black. I rang the dealership and they said it was normal and it was the carbon deposits. Surely these would have been removed when the old oil was changed.
• Slow A4 wipers 1 Apr 2006 (Forum)
  I have a 99 V reg A4 Audi, and over the past few months the wipers have started to get slower and slower. This happens at both normal, fast and intermitent settings. I wondered if there was a bad earth on the wiper motor, but the motor is tucked away behind the ECU box and the servo, so I gave up trying to get my hands on it.

  Computer says I'm getting average 40 on local journeys, 43-44 on longer runs. Is this about right? I canna find Audi's official figures. T'is great car and consumption seems pretty good (particularly as quattro must add weight). Anyone enlighten me, pse? thanks EH

  I could do with a new starter motor for my Audi. Once I 1. find out its part number (easy enough, I suppose) How can I 2. find out what other VAG cars used the same part number? (So I can search eBay for somebody breaking a more common car than mine.)

  Could anybody in the B.R. advise of the price of extended warrany on their M. Benz & Audis, or for comparison, any other manufacturer?? I ask because BMW have recently increased their prices on the 3 series by over 40% from £510 to £720 per annum. On the 5 Series the price increase is nearly 60% from £620 to £970 per annum, which seems excessive to say the least.!!

  Anyone know how the self-leveling mechanism operates on Xenon headlights and how quickly they are supposed to react? The reason that I ask is that a car following me tonight (Audi A4 or Passat, I think) produced two distictive 'flashes' of his lights whenever he hit a bump in the road.   I'm in the market for a new or nearly new diesel car (not SUV) with 4-wheel drive. At the moment I can only seem to see the Audi A4 Avant Quattro that fits the bill. I like the look and feel of the Mazda 6 Sport AWD and the Subaru Impreza WRX but they don't come with a diesel engine. Are there any other 4x4 diesel estate cars out there worth considering?

  Many Japanese engines these days seem to have cam chains rather than belts which seems like progress to me.(I see that most of Audi's new engines now have cam chains!) Can anyone tell me if the 2.0 i-VTEC engine fitted to the Honda CR-V is belt or chain? Many thanks HectorG

  My Scorpion alarm on my Audi 100 1993 makes no noise at all. Lights flash, but no noise. Any ideas (remote operated, also operates central locking, no idea if factory fitted)? (I haven't found the unit in the engine bay yet - there are so many complicated & exciting things like ABS that there are all sorts of things I haven't identified yet!)

  I have a 1999 Audi A4 1.8 SE (5v). The main dealers say that the cambelt doesn't need to be changed untill 115K miles. The owners handbook backs this up. This seems very high to me and I'm not sure I should leave it that long.

  Last night s programme highlighted the trade in car parts from stolen cars. . Usually high end Audis and Range Rover but Ford Fiesta for some reason ? The  trackers are disabled and the cars are “ chopped “ in a matter of hours packed into containers for shipping to Eastern Europe or beyond.

  Absolute mayhem in hotel car park last night and this morning. We managed to negotiate slush, black ice and the like with hardly a trace of wheel spin. Audi Quattro struggled up a tricky slope in the car park and I sailed up it with no trouble at all.

  I've just got an Audi A1 1.6 TDI. Before, I had a 2008 VW Polo petrol. Don't have much experience of driving diesels. The Polo would sit happily on a flat road at 30 in 5th, but the diesel won't. Even 4th at 30 is a struggle for it sometimes.

  Have an Audi A3 - 98k - 2.0 TDI with a FSH, and 10 months MOT - wondering if I should PX it (been offered £2200) or sell private? Looking at autotrader and recent sales on eBay I could get more but having never sold a car privatly before I wonder a) how likley this is b) if it's worth the hasstle many people have said there are many time wasters when selling cars

  I have the xenon lights on my BMW and can't find any info in the book about driving abroad and whether or not you need "deflectors" whcih I know are a pain the rear to fit. My Audi A5 had a setting change on the menus but again can't seem to find this on the BMW? Any advice experience of this?

  Can anyone advise as to whether or not they would recommend having front and rear parking sensors fitted on a used SLK I have just purchased. I am used to them with my previous Audi but these were factory fitted. Some people say that having them fitted after production is more trouble than its worth. Any knowledge or advice would be gratefully received

  I have the choice of a  Ferrari F430, Lamborghini Gallardo, Porsche 911 Turbo, Audi R8, Aston Martin DB9 or a Maserati Gran Turismo. Which would you choose? Maybe you have already been to one of these events. I am erring to the Ferrari/Maserati/Porsche.
