Could anybody in the B.R. advise of the price of extended warrany on their M. Benz & Audis, or for comparison, any other manufacturer?? I ask because BMW have recently increased their prices on the 3 series by over 40% from £510 to £720 per annum. On the 5 Series the price increase is nearly 60% from £620 to £970 per annum, which seems excessive to say the least.!!

Also - does this imply that quality/reliability of 3 year old bmw's has taken a dive ?

Not in my experience. Having said that I just had my rear screen replaced under (extended) warranty. The symptom was merely that the rear screen demister was causing interference to MW radio reception (sport etc.). Without any prompting or pressure from me my local dealership promptly leapt to the conclusion that I needed a whole new rear screen, and did the job. I did not sight the cost, but judging from another current thread, it must at have exceeded by far the extended warranty cost.

Are you sure that they replaced the screen? That would not cure the fault. The fault would most likely be with the antenna amp or its connections.

Yep, 100% sure. Saw it coming out.

£970 PA is a ridiculous amount to pay IMHO. Put the money in a savings account instead.
