  • Spanish Motoring Costs Pt II 24 Apr 2002 (Forum)
Only problem HJ's advice S(sell here & buy there), is the small one of financing, on a meagre pension, the shortfall between a new Focus/Seat/etc & a nearly (by then) 3yo 'Belgian' Focus :-( If I do sell & buy, I'll have to trade-down - any recommendations, bearing in mind the likely value
  • Why are electric cars so expensive? 11 Jun 2021 (Ask HJ)
Why are electric/hybrid cars so expensive? There’s no chance that an ordinary family will buy one. What’s going on?
  • What's the difference between PCH and PCP? 26 Oct 2020 (Ask HJ)
What's the difference between a PCP and a PCH finance contract?
  • Toyota RAV4 - New Car - Swirl Marks 8 Sep 2020 (Forum)
on about this, but it's important!). If you bought the car on HP/PCP the finance company not the dealer is liable. Give the finance company notice that you are rejecting the car and give them 7 days to say what they're going to do about it. It is up to them to refund you, or repair/replace if you're happy
  • How do I prove that the DMF was faulty in my car when I bought it 12 months ago? 30 Nov 2018 (Ask HJ)
I bought a used Volkswagen Tiguan in December 2017 and have covered 12,000 miles since. I recently took it for a service and the engineer told me that...
  • Bought a car - how do I return it? 1 Feb 2016 (Ask HJ)
I bought a used Vauxhall Insignia two weeks ago. The sales guy told me that the car had a full service history and I paid for a two year extended warranty....
  • Have I placed an order? Am I liable? 22 Nov 2007 (Forum)
deals. I contacted one who gave me a contract hire quote which sounded OK and after giving it some thought I gave some details to go through the finance check. I was passed for credit and was sent an order form confirming the price etc. I was told they were looking for some stock availability so
  • The Car Buying Experience 24 Sep 2005 (Forum)
hassles you, you can ask for the keys of about 1/2 dozen cars at once, and nobody has tried to sell me finance I didn't want, and you can get a stock/price list updated four times a day Contrast with the local Nissan dealer, where I've had the 'sales manager' offer a test drive in a Primera, only to turn
  • New wheels for a gigging musician? 13 Oct 2003 (Forum)
or a car with fins and go-fast stripes or lots of gleamy bits. All this seems to me to point to one of the sales rep type of cars you see lots of, and probably one of the ones which is considered uncool, so that it's a bit cheaper. Then, if she finds a type of car that suits, how to finance
  • Looking for a new car suitable for 3 kids 7 Apr 2021 (Forum)
seater car for about 10k (used, on finance). The C4 Cactus has caught my eye, especially with the panoramic roof. Any recommendations? :)
  • PCP Mis-Selling... 15 Sep 2016 (Forum)
just about everything at some point but the risk to the industry and economy is noteable as the cost of claims will be passed on to future customers so finance rates across all products will rise. Having said that if anyone has any questions I'll try to help, with clear impartial advice, as always.
  • Honda Jazz SE - Insuring a car bought with PCP 26 Feb 2016 (Forum)
this but surely with the amount of cars financed via PCP deals these days then it should be quite clear. It would be great if I could get some clarification for this as I want to avoid any issues in the unlikely event of a claim. Thanks
  • Selling - The car 14 Jan 2012 (Forum)
This is awfully daft to admit, but here goes....... Went to a local dealer who i know, and discussed cars with him, he said "lets have look at yours" on the valuation on his computer, everything came up rosy, except for the HPI check. Outstanding finance on the vehicle from 5 months before I
  • Mazda 6 - Demonstrator, What discount to expect? 13 Sep 2010 (Forum)
£19060 . The dealer has quoted £17999.   Several brokers have them at under £17000 brand new.  Drive the deal has it at £16600, including £1000 discount for using Mazda finance. What should I offer? What can I realistically expect to get
  • Deposit paid - should car be taken off forecourt? 7 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Hello all, My fiancee signed the forms for an '08' plate Grande Punto 1.2 Active on Sunday and dropped in a £500 deposit for the car yesterday (the rest is on finance). Yet today, the car is still on the forecourt for the great unwashed (note - tongue in cheek!) to prod, poke and generally crawl
  • FIAT - 0% deals 19 May 2008 (Forum)
I am going through the early stages of buying my next car and am looking at how best to finance it. My take on 0% deals is that they only tend to be on selected models i.e. low sellers, base models etc and this deal will be on the full RRP of the car, i.e. no discount for 0%.Am I correct. I am
  • Manpower Shortage 27 Feb 2007 (Forum)
. This Government is quite willing to pay over £3,000,000 per day for the occupation of Iraq, yet will not finance a much needed resource in thei Country. How much longer can we tolerate this? We rarely see traffic cops on our motorways, and we hardly ever see a policeman in our village.
  • Buying Mini Cooper, where ? 28 Sep 2005 (Forum)
there appears to be no room for negotiation on price at my local dealer. Is it worth looking further afield for better discounts or do I just have to grin and bear it. I will not be using BMW / Mini finance as cash is available. Many thanks in advance for your replies.
  • GAP insurance - worth it? 11 Dec 2003 (Forum)
What do you all think? Recently collected new car (MR2, it's lovely!) and the salesman is pushing GAP insurance. I won't bore you with the details but the car is effectively not financed and Tesco will replace the car like-for-like if written off within 12 months. So, is the £300ish for GAP
