Newshape Nissan Primera 2.2DCI Fault 16 Aug 2004 (Forum)
Today I went back to the dealer and saw the new (and thankfully experianced)Nissan service forman who said that it he had heard of this before and the conector was make to short from the factory. It is the wire conector in the top right of the engine that controls the fuel injection of the diesel when the turbo cuts in. He is now ordering me a new part which should arrive tomorrow. Has anyone else had the same fault! (The car is 2003 Nissan Primera 2.2 DCI SVE 136ps) Cheers James PS Well done to the RAC. -
Yaris D4D vs Golf TDI 130 12 Jul 2003 (Forum)
Honest John is a big fan of the Yaris diesel, and I like the design, but I\'m a bit concerned that I\'d get frustrated at the lack of go / refinement. I haven\'t driven one yet. Not sure if I\'d regret changing - any thoughts? -
Peugeot 307 2.0 - Peugeot 307 66 kw 2.0 HDI engine cutting off 18 May 2016 (Forum)
MAF error (I don't remember exact code) 2. P1138 (I don't remember the description) 3. P1614 (fuel pressure regulator valve) He said that I need fuel pressure regulator valve something like this I guess: donorspares.co.uk/images/Peugeotregulator.JPG But I am not sure, if this will help fix the problem. -
FIAT Doblo - FIAT Doblo 1.9 in JTD & MJ forms – consumption 2 May 2010 (Forum)
With the increasing price of fuel I estimate that the current additional consumption, on my average of 14K/year, is costing me about £300 p.a. What else can I do to improve the mpg on the MJ; or am I expecting too much (too soon) ? -
Hyundai i30 GDI Turbo petrol - Petrol particulate filters 25 Jun 2023 (Forum)
I certainly wasn’t expecting a new petrol engine to have particulate filter issues especially for a car that’s just 7 months old with only3k miles. It also begs the question why modern diesels aren't fitted with similar warning lights to alert the driver that regeneration is imminent/required and not to switch off the engine? -
Fiat Doblo Cargo - Smoking when cold 10 Apr 2023 (Forum)
- Gasket heard tested and fine - EGR valve cleaned thoroughly after it was running at above suggested pressure % on mechanics computer. - Full service done including changing the fuel filter. - Went to a diesel specialist who told me all the injectors where fine at the time and lots of Doblos do that. - The latest guy (deals in cleaning of EGRs etc) suggested an injector could well need changed (as when running he had his computer on it and one of the cylinders was running at 2.8-3.2ish whilst the others at small deficits of around -0.1 (I’m not mechanically minded so not sure what that measures.) -
Audi A6 Avant - Suggest a car- estate/crossover/SUV - maybe A6? 18 Oct 2016 (Forum)
I am leaning toward an A6 because it seems to offer a high spec, a sizeable boot and a pokey engine. Not too concerned about fuel economy really so petrol or diesel would be acceptable, without getting too insane (no V8s!). My main concern is reliability. Obviously these cars were not cheap to buy when new, and in my experience if you aren't careful repair costs can be vastly different compared to the cost of running a Mondeo. -
2008 VW Passat 1.9TDI (BXE) - Hard to start my VW when its heated up 5 Jan 2012 (Forum)
Recently it has been quite difficult to start once the engine has fully warmed up. i.e. it needs 5-6 seconds or more of cranking to get going. Almost like that sound you get when you are trying to clear some air lock from fuel lines in a diesel engine. Cold starting is fine. Ive noticed it is also prone to just conking out for no apparent reason although this symptom is irregular. Did a vagcom reading today; 1 Fault Found: 012295 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) P3007 - 000 - No Signal - Intermittent Freeze Frame: Fault Status: 00110000 Fault Priority: 0 Fault Frequency: 254 Mileage: 94264 km Time Indication: 0 Date: 2011.09.12 Time: 21:40:23 Freeze Frame: RPM: 294 /min Speed: 0.0 km/h Load: 0.0 % Voltage: 10.41 V Bin. -
Renault Megane - Car not as ordered 24 Oct 2011 (Forum)
The car is no good to us the way it is due to a medical condition of my father plus the fact I can't afford to run a diesel car that returns less mpg than most petrol models of comparable size I.e. Focus, auris etc. My question to the legally knowledgeable on here is this, what can I do about a car that is not as ordered. -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 00 2.0 HDi Aux Belt Removed, Cannot Start! 23 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Hi, This is my first experience with a diesel so I feel I may be missing something stupid! Last week it rained buckets, and my Aux belt started to slip, and I saw the battery light more and more. Eventually, the car lost power, stopped and refused to start again. -
Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 1997 1.3 idle and drive issues 16 Feb 2009 (Forum)
The stutter causes the car to lose acceleration and power, such like if the turbo was broken on a diesel. Increasing the throttle only causes the stutter to get worse; eventually the power does come back. Or I have to put the car into neutral and use full throttle until full revs come back. It?s almost as if the engine was seizing or fuel mixture running way too rich; the latter of which explains why increasing the throttle worsens the problem! -
Toyota Avensis (2009 - ) - New Avensis 16 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Only done 60 miles so initial impressions. Didn't particularly look at the outside, realised this morning that it was Blue. 2.0(?) diesel with dual a/c, sat nav (3x?) Ride / handling is very indistinguishable from the previous model, had two weeks with one in December. Interior is much better to look at than the earlier model but . . . -
Volkswagen Passat (2001 - 2005) - 02 1.9Tdi130-Charge Pressure Negative (17964) code 27 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Diagnostics so far: Previously I have been able to resolve the issue by turning the engine off. Opening the fuel cap to allow air into the tnk and starting the engine. However it hasn't work this time. The car has gone into the garage and they found a fault code: 17964 - Charge Pressure - Negative deviation in Turbocharger wastgate regulator valve. -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 150,000 mile tdci report 6 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Its looking a little scuffed, though a new windscreen before the last MOT which cost me £180 has improved the visibility out of the car. It still does about 47 to the gallon, so I guess I've put in over a thousand gallons of diesel into it. With fuel at £6 a gallon that's a sobering thought but it would be a lot worse with a petrol. Tyre wear has been good though I don't bother keeping records I thin I've got through one set of rears and a couple of sets of fronts. -
Volvo S60 (2000 - 2009) - 2.0T S - 124k FVSH - good buy? 13 Mar 2008 (Forum)
I know nothing about these cars in terms of what goes wrong with them, what to look for, and what they cost to service and run. Fuel economy. He really doesn't care about this and genuinely doesn't monitor it. What can I expect from it on a gentle motorway run? It's not going to be a diesel Mondeo, but neither does it go (or sound) like one. -
Honda Accord Tourer (2003 - 2008) - Misfuelling - how to prove a negative? 13 Feb 2008 (Forum)
m now seriously worried and would appreciate all advice on what to do. Get an independent sample of the fuel from the tank ASAP? Sample from the Shell Station tank as well (although was on the 29th so might not be the same tank now I guess). All suggestions gratefully received. Cheers, Gord -
306XLD heater,idling,coolant,humming 8 Dec 2004 (Forum)
The temp. fix was to increase the idling which now means that when cold it hovers around 750-800RPM but when warm is around 1000-1100RPM! Any ideas? Do I need to replace the Fuel Filter? I have serviced my old petrol engines but not diesels. Is there something I need to reset? 3. The coolant needs topping up every 2 weeks. I'm guessing it's a pipe leak, but someone said it looks like the cap is not sealed properly. -
Saab 9-3 TiD Glow Plug problem 21 Sep 2004 (Forum)
My next visit to the dealer confirmed the same error message, but this time the "technician" said it could be caused by one of two problems - either the wiring of the glow plug circuit was faulty or the diesel pump was about to pack up. The latter is apparently a megabucks job, so not surprisingly the car is booked in for a wiring loom check next week. I am also worried that the fuel economy of the car is nowhere near the manufacturer's quoted figures and dropping. -
Used Car Under £4k 5 Jun 2023 (Forum)
Like I said, I'd love a bit of luxury, either slow or fast is fine (but if I was pushed I'd choose a car with a bit of umph). Either diesel or petrol, it matters not. Definitely don't want a convertible or an estate and nothing too 'low' (and by this I mean...I currently have a Hyundai Coupe SIII and well, it's not for me. I don't like the very low seating position for one...I could go on but it's not really relevant). -
No idea - Large load space for dog cage and other gear 14 Sep 2019 (Forum)
We don't need the 7 seats we have in the Alhambra, but it does need room for 4 adults in relative comfort. It must be petrol as we do lots of short runs (I've screwed up the DPF and Cat on our diesel Alhambra). Fuel economy is relatively unimportant. I value reliability far higher than looks, and with the exception of e-windows in the front I am not fussed about any gadgets. I would prefer SUV style for easier access, I don't want to bend down to get into an estate car.
