  As an S80 driver I was pleased to read his final comment: 'But a very pleasing consideration is what it says about you. Not a BMW driver. Not an Audi driver. Not a Mercedes driver. Not a Jaguar driver. Probably someone to be trusted, then.' So, what other brands could you say that about??

  Seems unusually cheap for cars of this brand. I haven't for example, been able to find any comparable Audi A6s. What's the explanation for these Mercs losing so much of their value so quickly ?

  It must have taken a lot of imagination by Ford to decide to 'borrow' the instrument cluster from Audi - same layout, same Aluminium trim, same computer readout block, even the numbers looked like the same font!

  Can I expect to lose out substantially in depreciation if I buy an imported new model UK spec Audi A3 (2.0 FSI Sport) over a UK car? Am I right in thinking the 2 year pan-Euro warranty commences from the day the car was pre-registered? Thanks

  After all the talk of the Stig and it being Perry McCarthy, I thought it kind of ironic that in this week's Auto Express they have the new car honours. This was held at a festive night with lots of guests from motorsport including "Audi Test Driver" Perry McCarthy. Wonder if he told Auto Express who he worked for in his part time job....

  I saw one about 4 weeks ago parked up on a motorway service station. The photos dont do it justice - and if I describe it as the love child of an Audi A4 and a Mondeo you might think its a derivative aberration. Not so, it looks great, a world away form the old car!

  I'll nominate BMW's as being about as user-friendly as a cornered rat... try ordering a brochure if your house doesn't have a number (mine doesn't) or try the used car search to see some interesting geographical defintions..... Audi's is OK but the national used car search seems to go mad now and again.

  A friend of mine has told me that a tdi uses an incredible amount of fuel during start up and if you are only planning to leave the car for 10-15 minutes its cheaper to leave it running! Can you tell me if there is any truth in this? the car in question is an R reg Audi A4 1.9 TDI Thanks in advance Dave

  I've driven only two diesels: an Audi A4 several years ago and just recently a Rover 220. I recall that the A4 was very torquey low down in the rev range and was surprised to find that it was only upwards of 2500--3000 that the Rover provided much punch.

  I have a problem with the clutch on my Audi A4 1.8T. The biting point is very high and difficult to control as a result. I asked my dealer to have a look at it and they have pronounced its operation to be perfectly normal. I recognise that there is nothing, as such, wrong with the clutch as it has never slipped but it's annoying all the same.
