  Hi In a bit of dilemma.  Got a late 2007 325i Touring with the N53 direct injection engine in 2010 as an approved used BMW and have extended the warranty twice so still covered.  I like the car a lot to drive and does everything I need.  Dont do a lot of miles so the MPG not critical.  But In the last 8 months it has had 6 trips to the dealer (thankfully all under warranty) with a misfire and poor idling.

  It happened shortly after we bought it in june of this year and the clutch was replaced under some 3 month warranty thing. The car has 2 years Ford direct warranty. It has now started doing the same thing. I left it to ford today and they said the clutch was dragging. They said the need the car in for 2 days to investigate it and have said that if its a fault with the clutch then it can be replaced under warranty but if its due to wear and tear it will be down to us to replace it, which could cost about 500 quid.

  I know this sounds like a stupid question but my car is currently in the vw garage as it broke down (still under used approved Warranty). Warranty not paying out as they believe the car has broken down due to clutch wear and tear which  has caused damage to the flywheel.

  Perhaps I should extend my look to traditionally less reliable makes such as the Ford Fiesta and Vauxhall Corsa, since at least there should be some private sales. Originally I was looking for a 1 year old vehicle so it was still in warranty and quite a bit of devaluation had come off, however perhaps warranty isn't important nowadays since cars are far more reliable than they used to be so a 4 to 5 year old might be best value?

  Anyone else own one of these? I did have a Getz for three years in the noughties, the long warranty and the masses of equipment for the money swayed me, and this was generally trouble free until the warranty ended and the ECU failed. However, the I 20 carries on the good work of the Getz with the same warranty and masses of kit for reasonable money, but one I had as a courtesy car this summer and it seemed far more modern and better made than the Getz, in fact nearly on par with a Volkswagen.

  I recently (month ago) purchased used Vauxhall Astra Club 2001 and last week had to call for help to RAC because of the misfire in one of the cylinders? Changed all 4 spark plugs as advised by RAC, but didn't help. Still complaining about warranty with seller (purchased with 3 mth warranty) but wanted to know how serious problem can be?

  I know that if I purchased the car from drivethedeal.com, it would come from a VW dealer anywhere in the country and have the same 3 year manufacturers warranty. However, I am concerned that in the event of a warranty claim (either minor or major) I would be treated better by my local main dealer if I had purchased the car from them.

  Guys, My neighbour is currently without his Vw Golf due to a total gearbox failure, the car was bought as an approved Used VW and luckily is ( just ) still within the warranty period. It has covered only 54 000 miles. He has has a load of problems with the car since he bought it, electrical faults, air conditioning faults and now this.

  Dear Experts Many thanks for the wonderful website. I bought a Nissan Note 2015 regd Diesel 1.5L car. It is just crossed 1 year from my purchase and i still got 1 more year on extened warranty till Apr 2020. Only done approx 5000 miles in a year and on 41,000 miles now. At the time of sale (from the same Nissan local dealer) they said Engine and Gear box covered in warranty.

• Clutch pedal squeak 20 Feb 2003 (Forum)
  My Yaris sometimes exhibits this, and I spotted somewhere that it may be related to a clutch slave cylinder. The squeak isn't very loud and doesn't happen all the time - usually just when the car is cold, and the clutch seems fine otherwise. Do I have anything to worry about? The car is under warranty for another 8 months, but I'm not sure if this would count as a warranty claim or not. I do recall my mother's Saab used to make a similar noise and did so for ages with no obvious trouble, but I do tend to worry about unidentified noises!

    My son bought a 2 1/2 year old Ford Fiesta 1.25 petrol with 25000 miles from a local dealer around July 2013, it came with Fords Direct approved used car warranty - "two-year comprehensive unlimited mileage warranty included in the price".   In Oct 2013 he broke down due to having no drive (clutch wouldn't engage gears), he had the AA tow him to a Ford dealer who after 2 days told him there is nothing wrong and handed him back the car.

  I drive reasonably high mileage and my warranty at 60000 miles would expire this week. As my next service is not due until 63000 miles I thought that I would report the noise to my Toyota dealer at 59850 miles and hence claim warranty. The car has always been serviced correctly and the cam belt is being changed today.

   Roll on a few months and a few thousand miles and we did go on the motorway last weekend and the in car rumble was very noticeable. Before taking to my local mechanic I remembered the warranty so checked the Ts and Cs online and it stated bearings are covered up to 100,000 miles, but there is the usual 'wear and tear' get out clause.

  I recently purchased a used 1999 Cordoba Estate from my local main Seat dealer. The car is an official Seat used car and comes with their warranty. It's been very good other than I have noticed a few rust patches underneath the car.
