  • Proper European Cover 6 Sep 2005 (Forum)
I live in the UK but for the next 12 months I will be spending at least 50% of my time on the continent - in France, Belgium, Germany, Holland, etc). My insurance is up for renewal and I want a policy that will cover me while in Europe *at the same level* as I am covered in the UK, i.e. TPFT. Also, I'd rather not have to phone my insurers every time I go away/come back, as my trips are rather frequent. I know that UK inserers are legally obliged to provide you with minimum cover in EU contries, but that's not good enough for me as if my car gets nicked in Belgium, I'll be up the proverbial without a wotsit.
  • Kia Sportage - Kia Sportage Top Mounts 16 Feb 2024 (Forum)
If this was brake pads or discs, bulbs, wipers etc I could understand these are items with a limited life, but would have assumed a suspension component would be covered by the warranty. So whilst it did pass the MOT, having a car that makes a twanging clunk to the extent that I can feel it through the steering wheel and it can be heard outside the car is not ideal.
  • Peugeot RCZ 1.THP - Main dealer used car warranty, wear & tear 7 Sep 2018 (Forum)
But we had to pay about 130+ pounds to have this done and the dealers representative that we bought the car from to confirm if it was covered by warranty. They said the fault not covered under warranty as  it is "wear and tear." I feel that as the fault became apparent when we'd had the car for just under 8 months and had covered only 700 miles that the dealer we bought the car from should cover the cost in full or at the very least in part.

  • BMW - Warranty for BMW 19 Dec 2007 (Forum)
Hi, I purchased a BMW 320d from a BMW main dealer last year and the 1 year warranty that came with the Car is running out shortly. The Car is approaching 4 years old and has done 27000 miles. Can anyone recommend any third party warranty cover providers? and are there any specific areas of the Car that I should be looking for to be covered?
  • Citroen Xantia manual 7 May 2004 (Forum)
, and have been told that the Haynes manual only goes up to 1998 S reg. Does anyone know whether this manual will cover the engine/mechanics/suspension etc. for my car, or were there any modifications to the car after 1998 which mean the manual would not cover my car spec.

  • Ford Fiesta - 2000 Fiesta diesel rocker cover leak.... 7 Mar 2012 (Forum)
Some days it wont even get warm from starting. What could this be? Also, on top of the rocker cover, to the far right of the oil filler cap is a circle design that sits flush with the rocker cover. This is leaking ever so slightly.  Does this circle thing carry a purpose? Or is it just a design?
  • N/A - HJ proposals on car insurance 3 Oct 2016 (Forum)
There is an interesting item on car insurance in the news section. I certainly see that some of the current law and insurance practices are problematic. However a a low risk driver my premium is very low. Would making my car covered for any qualified driver lead to a steep increase in premiums?
  • Temporary Car Insurance 30 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Can anyone tell me where I'd be able to get insurance cover for a short term period - possibly 20 days. My annual policy ends at the end of this month, but I'm getting a company car starting from mid-August, so won't need my car anymore. I don't want to be charged astronomical charges for cancelling my annual policy after a couple of weeks - is there anywhere that offers short period cover?
  • changing your car every 3 months 4 Oct 2005 (Forum)
Let's just say I stick to buying bangers off ebay, and I change my car every 3 months. The only issue I can see is cancelling existing insurance and getting new cover. So, is there a type of insurance (possibly motor trade) that would not be sky high but would cover me for driving different cars that belonged to me over the course of a year?
  • Warranty woes of my 2nd hand car 15 Jan 2020 (Forum)
I was told that everything was covered and that if anything went wrong then it would be covered. The warranty company do not agree and will not cover anything which ford have found to be defective. The problems which ford have spotted were on there when I bought the car since they are due to excessive wear and tear.
  • Ford C-Max 1.6 TDCi 2008 - Warranty Direct claim 16 Jul 2013 (Forum)
One of Warranty Direct's exclusions is carbon build up. Even though I've paid the extra on the policy for the optional cover, which covers emissions, and specifically lists the EGR valve, I'm not covered. Have I got a leg to stand on to take this further? The cars a 2008 and only done 32850 miles. Would an EGR valve carbon up in that short mileage?
  • fiesta 1.25 hole in rocker cover - how? 7 Sep 2006 (Forum)
I have a Fiesta Freestyle 1.25 zetec on an 02 plate. The car is looked after, serviced and has done only 15k from new. Today I've been under the bonnet and discovered a smashed hole through the top of the rocker cover, spewing oil everywhere. Now, I don't know the first thing about mechanics - how can this happen?
  • Insurance just gets cheaper and better 15 Jul 2002 (Forum)
See Yell.com / Yellow pages My renewal arrived this week. I have over 16 years protected NCD. Last year no European cover was included, it woulkd have cost an extra £40. This year I intend to take the car to France. Europen cover {90 days} is now included. The renewal is £40 less than last year and best of all 12 months full RAC cover {£120 on RAC website} is included in the price.
  • Ford Fusion 1.4 TDCi (2004) - Fusion 1.4TDCi injector seals leaking after repair 13 Jun 2010 (Forum)
The car went back in and was re-done and the same problem has now recurred, altho' this time it looks like "clean" diesel (i.e. not contaminated with oil) which is seeping through the rocker cover gasket. The car has done 106,000 and has been totally reliable in that time.
