  Luckily she did NOT start the car....... however inorder to push the car out of way the ignition had to be put on to free up the steering wheel and put the car in N (it is an automatic) I HOPE and pray that a full tanke drain should do the trick.. because the car had not actually run out of fuel am I right in assuming that techincally no Petrol should have made it to the Injector pump?..

  This 307 was code read at main Peugeot Dealers, A few faults were found exhaust pressure sensor down stream gas tempature sensor these were fitted at the time, most recently started going into limp mode again exchangeed (MAF) sensor with a know'n good one but to no avail on doing some checking using pin data did find at (MAP) sensor plug 3 pin, "Voltage at all 3 pins" PIN 1- 4.96 PIN 2- 4.91 PIN 3- 5.90 Removed both multi plugs (ECU) and (MAP) plug, Done some checking from plug to plug also voltage and resistance and all checked out at this point any feedback to this would be greatly accepted Best Regards Mickeybo {There is no need to repeat the year, engine size, and make / model in the subject header as the compulsory boxes you fill in automatically adds those details for you}

  The cold snap makes me ask whether this absence of effective engine braking is not a danger when driving in icy conditions, in which I have always relied on having the option to change down manually, or to select a lower range in an automatic transmission. Prima facie, I would not like to be unable to avoid accelerating down an icy hill with nothing to stop me except the brakes. What is the approved answer in a Prius or other 'CVT' vehicle?

  Hi my 1998 2.0 16v automatic gls vectra b has a sport drive button on the top of the gear stick, until now it has worked fine and has always shown a small orange light on the dash indicating its in use, and you certainly know when your in sport mode as the gears do not change so quickly as in normal drive.

  So, when I transfer the new reg to the new car does this mean the car doesn't have a reg no or does the old one get re-assigned back to it automatically? I also read that when I inform the insurance company of the change in reg no I need to tell them ... "in the event of a total loss claim...' whereby they effectively buy your vehicle (or what's left of it) off you due to theft, or as a 'right off', '...the registration mark will remain your property".

  Hi, my friend purchased a 2006 vectra diesel automatic with 100000 miles recently, after 2 months the gearbox has developed a fault & will not change gear, vauxhall have quoted £3000 to replace it. The independant dealer gave her 3 months warranty & they have said they will pay the maximum £1000 as the warranty is limited, but she has to pay the rest her self.

  A young family friend's driving school is coming along nicely, and the young woman in question would like to purchase a smallish automatic to expand her business. She would like a proper auto, which i think is good sense but open to other thoughts. She likes the look of Hyundai i20 (though Hyundai's website says the infamous warranty doesn't apply to commercial use!!)

  I have a 1992 Citroen BX19TXD automatic. The suspension has suffered a number of leaks and pipes have been replaced by the main dealer over a period of months On the last occasion they could not get the front and back suspension to work together as self levelling.
• Audi A3 + S3 (1996 - 2001) - 1999 1.8 - Fuel Additives - Sluggish Acceleration 31 Dec 2007 (Forum)
  If you put your foot down hard the revs jump up but there is a second lag in acceleration. The experience is similar to driving an automatic uphill when you try to accelerate and feel the gear shift down before there is acceleration except my car is a manual! The car is an Audi A3 1.8 petrol manual built 1999. Air mass meter was replaced about 18 months ago so I am sure it isn't that (thankfully!).

  He was told that he would not be pursued for use of a foreign vehicle anyway so that he need not bother to register any foreign vehicle in the future. He also got the impression that foreign plates would not be automatically read so computer records of continued access (abuse?) are not available. Any comments? -- pmh (was peter)

  Before I take the plunge I want to consider what I could get second-hand for less money (say around £15k) that will still fit my needs: accomodate two adults and two young children in comfort with plenty of space for family luggage etc, but not a serious load-lugger and not too big. Diesel automatic. Something thats enjoyable to drive and I can feel proud of. And will last 5-years stress-free. Suggestions? And do you think used is a better way to go than new?

  She had a look at the revised model today and she loves it as she thinks the revisions have been very accurate in that they answered alot of the criticisms she had of hers ( heater controls, lack of heated seats, cup holder location, outside temp gauge arrangement etc ). Anyhow, shes fancies the 2.0 litre auto this time round but wants to know what other automatic coupe or CC's are around and more importantly, which have a good ownership experience as she doesnt want to downgrade in reliability and customer service that she gets from Hyundai. Her budget is about £18,500 but less would be nice - any suggestions as to which of the ones available is best?

  Hi Nissan Micra automatic 1.3 I'm trying to sort out a problem on a Micra. Basically the owner's been having the engine management light come up on the dash for about a year now and has had the fault code read at expense.

  I own a 1999 Honda Accord 2.0 LS Vtec 4 door Automatic. On starting from cold in the morning with the air conditioning or heated rear window on the drive belts squeal. It happens for the first 10 minutes from cold It only happens at tickover or when i pull away at junctions It is particularly bad on damp mornings I have replaced the following items in an attempt to cure this: Honda drive belts (a/c and Pas) Air con compressor Alternator Also it has recently had both timing and balancer belt and a Honda battery.
• Primera Xenon Headlamps 1 Aug 2006 (Forum)
  (Road signs, reflectors etc) I am fed upwith the garage's incompetence and would like to align them myself. Is this possible - the EEC ruled all Xenon lights must be automatically self levelling, so can I just twiddle a screw and align them or is it a computer related task - put into a 'align mode' perhaps? Any advice would be appreciated, I certainly cannot go into winter as they are at present.

  My current method is to fill buckets, which I use to fill a watering can to rinse the car and I can carry on doing that. There's nothing stopping me from filling the buckets by hose! Automatic car washes that use more than 23 litres of water per car are also banned but I never use them anyway. James

  It runs fine when the engine is warm and I can drive it from cold ok - i just have to rev the hell out of it as I get going, which the neighbours don't appreciate at 6am in the morning!! Would I be right in thinking it is the automatic choke? If so, is that an easy thing to fix? All help gratefully received

• Pedestrian Crossing and Precedence 17 Jun 2005 (Forum)
  This afternoon, coming out of Kingsto on the Portsmouth Road, a cyclist rode out onto the crossing, as I saw him approach the crossing on his bike, I didn't automatically afford hin precedence, he continued riding onto the crossing. I stopped before reaching the crossing and without coming into contact with the cyclist. He seemed to think that I was going to keep going and for 30 seconds or so, stayed on the crossing making gestures, signs and mouthing rude remarks.
