Peugeot 1.9D 1997 non turbo no abs manual gbox - peugeot 1.9D engine fail 2 Nov 2015 (Forum)
This feels like a write-off but it is beyond my experience... i generally get my old cars through the MOTs but only go as far as welding/ suspention/ brakes, that kind of stuff... If anyone can give a hint as to where to start looking or if I should just tow it to the scrappa!! cheers, D. -
VW Golf mark VI 1.6TDI - Lost engine power on motorway! 29 Jun 2015 (Forum)
Had to limp into the hard shoulder using whatever speed was left - and call the breakdown services. The car would not re-start. Fuel tank still 2/3 full. Got a tow home. Tomorrow, when the garages open, I will have to take it in. But what could have caused all this ? The car is from October 2009, and has just 59K miles on the clock - mainly motorway driving. This is the first serious fault I have ever experienced with it. -

VW Tiguan Escape - Disagreement with VW and dealership 3 Sep 2014 (Forum)
We don't have a rough lane, rarely if ever go offroad, got a quad and Ford Ranger for that, and it has no tow bar. Am feeling decidedly ripped off and let down by the dealership. Any experiences, opinions and advice would be gratefully recieved. -
Audi A1 Sportback - AUDI A1 1.6TDI 105 BHP FAILS TO START OR RUN 15 Aug 2014 (Forum)
They checked the car and also were stumped as there were no fault codes and the system fuel pressure indicated no problems on diagnostics. The car was towed to Lomond Audi in Glasgow who carried out further investigations for a couple of days. They said that the car appeared all OK and even the EGR was fine. They were stumped and contacted the technical experts at Audi Technical advice centre. -
Ford Focus Zetec - Has my Ford Garage been negligent? 10 Dec 2013 (Forum)
It's just broken down and the AA came out and said the cam belt was broken and may have caused other damage. The AA towed it to the Ford garage who have quoted far more than the car is worth to repair it and are awaiting my decision on what to do. I need a car and therefore have no real option but to purchase a new one. -
Nissan X-Trail - Possible Purchase - Advice 28 Jan 2013 (Forum)
Also it seems that the petrol 2.0L gets the same mpg as the 2.5L, which seems odd to me. I won't be using it for towing but as a normal road car/load lugger with the off road capabilities for times when the weather is similar to recent as I will be living in the countryside/just out of town. My questions are: a) Are the diesels really as bad as reported? -

BMW Service 3 Feb 2012 (Forum)
I booked the service with courtesy car over 3 weeks ago. Wife turns up there this morning - 2 little kids in tow to be told \"oh no you have not booked a courtesy car - we don\'t have a car available\". I threw the toys out of the pram (on the phone) - major wobbly. Suddenly they say \"oh a car has just become available\". -

nissan x-Trail 2002 - oil pump failure 2 Aug 2011 (Forum)
my parents have an xtrail 2002 , has bout 150,000 klms on the clock ,been driving wonderfully , but all of a sudden became noisy , pulled straight up and checked all the neccessary things oil levels water levels, and electrics. then called the roadside service(we live in australia) ... they checked said il levels, which were showing full on the dipstick.. towed in to mechanics.. his first impression is that is oil pump not working , our problem is being a side to side motor looking at $1000 to pull it down just to confirm if it is oil pump. -
Audi A6 Avant - overheated clutch , audi will not repair/replace 18 May 2011 (Forum)
I somehow managed to get enough purchase on it to get to the brow of the hlll where I had to coast down to the bottom and call audi assist. They ended up towing me home and Audi collected the next day. The car was drivable again by then, but tthe clutch didnt feel right. Audi have inspected it and said the clutch has burned out through overheating and therefore will not be replaced under warranty. -
Mazda 3 ts2 2.0d 2008 - Sump oil rising fast 14 Dec 2010 (Forum)
The car has done 36k and is under so-called warranty. Last month it was towed into a Mazda main dealer with the sump oil level very high, loss of power, uneven idle, and run-on after switch off (no dash warnings). The dealer reconfigured the injectors, made a service update to the ECU for the DPF warning setting. -
Volvo V70 / Saab 9-5 estate - What estate for under £3k? 19 Oct 2010 (Forum)
- Hills: I live in a very hilly area, so the torque of a diesel is really useful. But I don't tow anything and only do 10k miles a year (mostly local runs up to 25 miles, and an occasional motorway slog), so maybe the relative fuel economy bonus of a diesel isn't so important. - Good seats. -
Alfa Romeo jts - Engine Failure on approved car 27 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Since then the engine has developed a knock on the overrun, and was taken straight to the dealer (towed not driven.) The fault is defiantly internal, and the bill is already fairly substantial just finding out what is wrong with it :( I'm worried about the warranty covering any repairs on the car (I dont trust it for some reason - and I'm sure they will try and wiggle their way out of paying.) -

Citroen Xantia (1993 - 2000) - 99 2.0 HDi Auto Diagnosis Light 10 Sep 2009 (Forum)
I have read that supermarket fuels are not as good - is this true or fuel snobbery? I am not that bothered about the car being in limp mode but am towing a caravan in about 8 weeks and wouldn't mind having the power there for that. Regards Steve
