  I do around 40K miles a year, get paid by the mile. So, the more mpg I get, the richer I get. I drive a lot at night and love the bmw and audi red dials inside Don?t want a saloon in audi though. Wife is telling me to get mondeo, but I have had these for 8 years on and off. (company cars) I just cant make my mind up. So I have a few choices. 1. bmw 525/530 tds saloon around £13K for a 2000/y 2. audi a4 avant 2000 around £11K but reminds me of passat 3. mg zt-t 130 53 plate £13K 10 miles 4.

  I think I know the answer to this, but I'd be interested to hear a proper diagnosis. My old Audi has been given a holiday while I dodge the summer showers on my motorbike, and I was attempting to keep it from neglect by starting it up and running for a while every couple of weeks. This was not quite enough to keep the battery (not the original!)

  A firm bang on the dashboard over the speedo area would stop the engine's miss and settle the speedo at the same time. A local audi mechanic said there is no connection between the speedo and the engine's performance but I know I wasn't imaginaning it!!! Subsequently I eventually fitted a second hand speedo which solved both the afore mentioned problems confirming to me that there must be some kind of connection between speedo and engine (perhaps through the engine management?

  There is a way of reseting the service indicator on VW's using the ignition and turn signals but I have forgotten how. Can someone remind me please, its the same for all Audi & Volkswagons thanks Stuart

  Mate of mine's just bought an Audi A4 1.8 saloon with 75k on the clock on an N plate. Immaculate inside and almost outside. No squeaks, rattles or wobbles at all ! The price £1000 ! Is that a good deal or what ?

  John Farrell wanted my thoughts on the comparison - see Audi TT diesel running in thread. I've had a new A4 Avant for the last two days which has the 2.0TDi CR unit - output unknown, but I suspect 140. My last courtesy car a couple of weeks ago was an A3 with the 2.0TDi PD engine.

  I've worked out a shortlist and had the quotes, and my contribution for the following cars, including income tax, per month for four years, is (all specc-ed with metallic paint): Honda Jazz 1.4 dsi sport £110 Fabia vRS with added cruise control and side airbags: £130 Audi 1.9tdi SE: £220 Audi 1.9tdi Sport with cruise control: £230 Ibiza Cupra with cruise control: £230 I think the Audis and the Ibiza are out of budget, so realistically that leaves the Jazz and the vRS.

  I originally took it back to the garage I bought it from, who have done their best to resolve the problem; They changed the cruise control stalk on the steering column but this didn't fix it.They then decide it had to go to an Audi dealer for further investigation, who informed me they 'thought' it was a 'Control Column ECU'. Needless to say, when I picked the car up from the Audi garage and drove it home, the cruise control promptly failed.

  I'm looking for info or a diagram of the Vw/Audi AVB 1.9 Tdi vacuum hose setup I've just replaced the stock Avb turbo with an Audi AWX (Gt1749va), whilst doing this all vacuum hoses we're replaced one at a time off and straight back on. The air box was off for two days whilst awaiting an AWX lower boost hose so I think it's one from there to the Egr or thereabouts as I've probably mixed them up.
