Audi A4 - 2.0 - boot wiring loom replacement - Flowers

Need some advice folks..

Got my car serviced last week and I have recived a work recommendation from the garage for a fault 'Boot wiring loom'.

Quoted for Part at £185, Labour at £50, Total including VAT £282

Woot this is worrying me!!!

But then the garage advised that I should be able to find a used or a new replacement kit from EBAY.

Basically I get dash lights for rear right / left fog and number plate failure lights evenrytime I start my car and the boot doesnt open through remote key but works through the key (by manually opening the boot).

My MOT is for next month and I am worried. Do i need to fix this before MOT?

Need your advice and my options and is it really safe to buy it from ebay or any online?

If the boot wiring is in trouble,it can only be broken wiring(very common on vag models)then it is usually a very easy repair.Do the lights actually work??

I would think an auto electrician could fix this for less than £282. Assuming the car is out of warranty, an Audi agent is probably the most expensive place to have it repaired.

Yes, lights do work and some times i dont get these faults at all.. very intermittent.

If the lights are working ok,then i can't see the problem being the wiring to the boot lid.Cheap bulbs can often trigger spurious warnings on the display.I would change these first.

See previous reply - I was about to say take it to an auto-electrician :)
