Seat Atea 1.6 tdi dsg 2011 - Altea 1.6 DSG 2011 7 speed gearbox fail mechatroni 21 Aug 2016 (Forum)
Need advice please. History for background information. Bought Altea from car giant in 2014 with 15000 miles and full Seat service history, I was told that the car was a disability vehicle. Very happy with car with no problems. I purchased a service plan from Seat for a two year service at a cost of £20 a month for 18months payment that would include a minor and major service and two year aa cover. -

Unknown! - Tracing the make of a car from it's side light? 3 Aug 2012 (Forum)
And this indicator light casing is smashed on the road right next to the damage. It's a long shot I know, but worth a try to narrow it down and see if I can find a white car of that make with damage, on this estate! I'm sure whoever did it will clean off my blue paint from his car to cover up, but wont be able to replace a smashed indicator light straight away! -
Nissan Micra K11 - Micra or Sirion for cheap small auto car? 30 Oct 2011 (Forum)
I'm looking for a small, cheap, automatic car. On Autotrader locally there are quite a few late '90s Micras and a few Daihatsu Sirions (I'm discounting the Corsas, Clios and Puntos) Checking the car by car breakdowns, I was surprised by the negatives on the Micras, I thought they would good reliable little cars. -
Question about insuring new car before seeing it 27 Mar 2009 (Forum)
I am not sure why I have to insure it prior to even seeing it or is this normal nowadays? Btw, the Honda sales blurb says they cover you with 7 days insurance when you buy a new car so I am doubly confused about the need to insure it beforehand? Also, can anyone point me to a good resource - is there one here on HJ - about how to check over a new car before accepting it? -
Which Option? 5 Mar 2003 (Forum)
This standing by the car doesn?t just cover things breaking, it covers wear and tear items as well - but no, not petrol! We can put extended warranties on the cars for up to 4 years with the claim limit being the value of the car (not the usual £500 or £1,000). -
BMW M3 CS - Multiple Faults from purchase, No Help from Dealer 15 Jun 2013 (Forum)
I call the warranty company and they say that calipers are not covered under warranty. As such I duly call Beck Evans workshop who ask me to bring the car in but any work will be charged for . Now, as any competant person will confirm its not advisable to drive a car with a seized caliper at all, let alone 30mins up the motorway. -
Nissan Micra (2003 - 2010) - does the dealer have to fix my car? 9 Dec 2009 (Forum)
It had a service with the same Nissan dealer in '07 & another in '08. In Nov '08 I bumped the left side (rear passenger door) into a bollard. I took the car to a garage recommended by my insurance company. The door needed to be replaced & the door of the arch needed making good. I was covered by insurance, the total cost was approx £1,500. I started smelling a fowl smell in my car 4 weeks ago, I only realised it was coming from the mold covered boot last week (it's spread to some seats & surrounding areas, my child's buggy). -
Renault Megane Scenic 01 - Used Car 13 days out of dealer and cam belt snaps 9 Nov 2013 (Forum)
I should pay for parts and they will cover labour. Alternatively I can choose another car from the forecourt to the value I paid or add additional money to it. Where do I stand please with this, I cannot afford the £400+ parts costs to repair it and the cars available in our price range are just not suitable for our needs (must have a large car for various reason) and all in that range now are small 3 dr cars. -
Returning a Faulty Car 11 Mar 2011 (Forum)
The sales of good act, which covers cars, says I have up to 5 months to return the purchase if it is not "sold as fit for normal purpose" But I would really appreciate advice on this and what my next steps should be PS the cost of a new gearbox from the dealer is £2500+VAT!! -
An answer to my wife's need for a car 11 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Join the club for £25, pay £4.95 per hour plus 4p per mile (first 10 miles free) - this covers ALL costs (cheaper if you buy blocks of time). Her last car cost about £400 a year just to insure, so on this basis she could have a Whizzgo car for 70-80 hours a year. The only major downside is you have to drive Citroen C3 (only joking!!). -

1.5 Hybrid - Second-hand Honda Jazz 23 Jul 2024 (Forum)
The Jazz did well in the small car category too, finishing in seventh place out of 19 models. Every Honda comes with a three-year warranty as standard for most parts, but the hybrid system in the Jazz is covered for up to five years or 90,000 miles. -
Ford Focus - Engine failure after missed recall 28 May 2016 (Forum)
Ford are going to replace the engine in the extended warranty - which I am happy about, but they are unwilling to cover the cost of a hire car as it is now out of warranty. This has left me very annoyed - I have already paid £87 to have my car moved from my local garage to the ford garage and almost £40 in taxis to work. -
skoda superb - VAG Skoda new keys. 23 Nov 2012 (Forum)
Hello everyone, this subject may heve been covered previously, but I need some help. I have just encountered a problem with my car key. I bought the car second hand and it came with only one key. The usual 'flip out' VAG group key fob. No problem for 6 years until the fob plays up and I cannot get into the car. -
Smart Fortwo (451) Cdi 54bhp - Wheel Alignment Caster out 4 May 2012 (Forum)
Hi Guys Had the front pads and discs replaced yesterday and it was noticed whilst the tyres were off the car that the inner edge of the tyres were thiner than the rest of the tyre. Today i took my car to a autocentre by me who have a Hunter Alignment machine and had the alignment checked. The Toe was considerable out of adjustment but the machine brought up another concern and that is Caster is more than 30 minutes between left and right. -
Vauxhall Astra G Petrol (1998 - 2004) - 02 1.6 Brake Issues 20 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Hi All Once again, I seek your invaluable expert advice :-) About 9 months ago I had my car serviced by Vauxhall, and they replaced the front discs and pads. Although they worked, and stopped the car fine they where never as sharp as they used to be (pedal seems ?softer?) however I just put it down to a different brand of pads, however the car stops perfectly fine. -
Honda Accord UK (1998 - 2003) - 02 2.0 misfiring on start up 6 Oct 2008 (Forum)
We've left the car with them for several days but of course it behaved perfectly. My worry is that more trouble is on the way. If it turns out to be a major component it would be covered by the purchased warranty but this runs out end of December. -
Honda Jazz/Fit (2001 - 2008) - 03 1.4 Fading of Red Paintwork 12 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Now I know that red cars do fade, so I'm not disappointed or angry. Also, I thought this had been covered in previous posts but couldn't find anything on a search. So, our 5 year old Jazz in Monaco Red (solid colour) has slight fading of its paintwork on the front edge of the bonnet and on the roof.
