Imports 4 Apr 2002 (Forum)
Whoops! I made a mistake in my query about imports in my message dated 2nd April. I quoted Onesearch when I should have said that I had received a quote from a firm called www.oneswoop.com Their spec is exactly the same as a car purchased in this country and I would save obout £2,360. -
Japanese/English Manuals 29 Apr 2001 (Forum)
Hello, Can anyone help with any information on the availability of English (worded) manuals for imported Japanese vehicles. Would anyone know if an English version of the handbook for an imported Japanese Toyota Townace is available anywhere or, should I start a night school language course ? -
Toyota Imports 12 Nov 2001 (Forum)
Trade Sales have sent me the Belgian Type Approval Certificate which shows it to be 167 G/KM. I have spoken to Toyota UK who confirm that all RHD cars imported to Europe have the same specification engine; but they refuse to get involved. I expect everyone else who has imported a Yaris from Belgium - where most come from - has a similar problem. It could apply to other makes and models as well. -
Buying imports from Channel Islands 25 Jul 2008 (Forum)
I'm very tempted to buy a car from a dealer who imports 'nearly new' cars (just a few months old) from the Channel Islands. They are apparently used mainly as hire cars and have just a few thou miles on the clock, they come with the balance of the manufacturers warranty (so usually about 2 to 2.5 years) and the dealer registers and supplies UK plates. -
Skoda Fabia (2000 - 2007) - Importing my LHD car 1 Dec 2007 (Forum)
From the DVLA website, I see that if I wish to permanently import my LHD Skoda Fabia 1.9 tdi, I will have to change the headlights and speedometer. Has anyone any suggestions about the best & cheapest way to go about this? From a financial point of view, I think my car, 6 years old but in excellent condition, would be difficult to replace with an equivalent in the UK were I to sell it in Spain. -
Lexus IS/Toyota Altezza 23 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Two questions about grey-import IS200s (badged Toyota Altezzas) (A) Quite like the look of theIS200/300 estate, but they are mega-expensive here so thought of grey-import. But doing an autotrader National search there are no estate Altezzas - were the estates only made for the european market or people just don't bother bringing the imports in ? -
Radios in "Grey" imports 17 Aug 2005 (Forum)
I recently bought an imported Mazda6. I am very pleased with both the car and the deal I got. However, it has a radio straight out of ther 1970s. The FM band only goes up to 90, there is no station identification/tracking (which means I have to retune every few miles along the road). -
Hyundai ix 20 - Engine Cover 22 Jan 2018 (Forum)
I don't remember when engines started to have covers. Nor do I know how important they are. I have read criticism of the ix 20 that it does not have an engine cover. How important is this ? and, if it is, to further my education why is it ? Many thanks -

KIA Sportage - Kia grey import? 1 Nov 2017 (Forum)
8 years ago were cars being imported and registered from Malaysia? Were those cars being registered as new with the DVLA when they weren't new? Is the VIN plate date of manufacture going to be correct? Is it likely for the car to have been sitting doing nothing in Malaysia for 3 years, before being sent over here? -
Ford fiesta 1.4 zetec - Back door import from Isle of Man 28 Apr 2016 (Forum)
Received a valuation from we buy any car.com for £1500 and went to the appointment for them to offer me £350 and informing me that it was a back door import from the Isle of Man. Does this actually bring the value of the car down? and what does it actually mean being a backdoor import. I purchased it off a someone who had owned it for a few years and she had bought it from a garage in england. -
EU imports 16 Jun 2007 (Forum)
However on coming to insure the car became more difficult each year, small print phrases like, personal import, non UK dealer purchase, EU import etc. were exempt. (One company insured it only to exempt it the following year). I was treated like those weird grey imports from Japan. I therefore wrote to the tv channel concerned , and papers, complaining that we were duped by their publicity. -

buying a camper in London? 3 Aug 2004 (Forum)
Any suggestions on where to buy a camper van in London for touring Britain and the Continent? Reliability is an important consideration (don't want to be hanging around garages). Price, as always, also important. Hints for re-selling it when return to London? TIA -

Jaguar f type 400 sport - Bought car from main dealer and not told import 23 May 2024 (Forum)
I purchased a vehicle from a Jaguar main dealer and was not told that the vehicle was an import nor does the service history add up as the vehicle was then registered in uk in April 18 (some 18 months later than the Dec16 first reg) then serviced By Copart LTD in May 18 at 211 miles ??? something sounds very fishy and other dealers now wont take as part exchange!! -
Rover Mini - Import minis and poor old Rover dwindling.. 27 Sep 2016 (Forum)
The numbers really are dwindling.. Anyhow I came across a Jap spec Rover mini. Its a grey import, and they've somehow fitted aircon into it as well as being automatic. Anyone else a bit impressed at the packaging?! Hopefully the link below works. https://www.google.co.uk/search? -
Smart Two/Four - Reclassification of tax band on import 9 Dec 2012 (Forum)
Hi, We are looking into buying a car for the Mother in Law and have found one that ticks all the boxes. However we have just found out that it has been imported from Japan as of April this year. Everything still check out with the car as we have done a check on the MOT etc. However, we have been told that it is £135 tax due to it not being reclassified by the DVLA (does not have a UK emission certificate). -
Is tyre pressure that important any more? 30 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Following on from the "Mr Average or in minority?" thread. With lower profile tyres now being the norm, how important is inflation pressure? My offspring have absulutely no interest in their cars and I usually end up inflating their tyres when they visit, but I've noticed they still seem to wear evenly despite being down to around 60% of recommended pressure. -
Toyota Supra (1993 - 2000) - VED on imports? 30 Apr 2008 (Forum)
I dare not ask the tax people directly, lest it gives some career minded chair-polisher an idea for a Brownie point suggestion! There will be a quite lot of people with imports which fall into Supra's category, and who may be worrying.
