  Hi, I have noticed that the car is loosing coolent water, because I have to fill it up every day or 2.   The car never overheats on long drives, but the coolant warning light come on when I drive in heavy traffic. The cars performance is OK and I cant see any water in the oil, or see water on the floor.  Not sure what to look for.  Replaced the coolant pressure cap with a new, made no difference Eddie

  Hi Went to look at a W124 Mercedes 1992 150000 Miles Had a look around the engine before starting the Car their appeared to be Oil in the Coolant It's kind of Dark brown but hard to tell the exact color was wondering if this could be ATF fluid as the Temp gauge seems normal with the engine running. If it's the heat Exchanger in the Rad leaking Fluid in to the Coolant is it an easy Job to Fix always supposing I can get the parts.

  had a few problems with the engine ticking over and not switching off via the imobiliser thats all sorted, no longer have an imobiliser. but the coolant keeps going down rather fast there appears to be no leaks of any sort, looking under the bonnet tonight though, my dad and i noticed a cap that was open, next to the engine and you can sort of see into the engine, just wondering if anyone can halp as to what this caps for and wether it has anything to do wit the coolant level.

  My friend has a Passat TDI 115 and has a problem with the coolant temperature gauge. As the car warms up it just comes on to scale and slowly rises just short of normal temperature then quickly falls back off scale and continues to cycle like this whilst the car is running.

  It now makes lots of gurgling and sloshing noises which you can hear inside the car if stationary and rev. The coolant level keeps rising and will explode from the top up if you take the cap off even after a short journey. Its had the thermostat changed and the coolant system flushed but it is still happening.

  HI, i want to get the coolant changed since it has done over 7 years without a change but everything is still fine, do i need to have the thermostat change at the same time? Does flushing the system a must? Please help.

  Can anyone help? Once car has warmed up and the tempreture gauge reaches 90 when fan kits in, the coolant warning light goes on. If anyone knows the reason for this please help thanks paul

  I'm looking at buying a renault scenic but the seller say's it's just started to drip coolant somewhere near the bottom hose where it meets the water pump. Is this a big job to sort ? and what would I need to sort it ? or is it just best to stay away. Damsel in distress :-)

  Can someone please tell me where the engine coolant drain plug is. I can't find it. The Haynes manual states its on the rear of the engine block but it doesn't say where abouts.

  Does anyone know where I can buy a Coolant Temperature Sensor for a K reg Renault Clio online or by mail order. Also do you know where abouts in the engine compartment it is. A Part Number would be nice too. p.s. I live in the Leeds area.

  Hello, If coolant is ok in specific gravity terms, i.e. is proving the required protection from freezing should it still be changed on an age basis? I am getting differing views on this. To put it another way can it's corrosion resistance and lubricity diminished even if it's anti freeze properties are intact?

  Hi guys, I'm at a miss as to what is causing the coolant to boil in my Fiestas Coolant expansion tank. The level is at the appropriate level - and there appears to be no loss of coolant. After engine shutoff, I can hear "hissing", the sound of pressure escaping from the Expansion tank cap?

  Stopped, and saw smoke coming from the gearbox area, and then my girlfriend ill-advisedly unscrewed the coolant reservoir, so boiling coolant had it's merry way around. Handily, I had some coolant in the boot, but as I was topping up I noticed that the coolant had taken on a particularly brown tinge, and it made me wonder whether a full coolant drain and replacement is a sensible thing.

      The tube is a hard plastic which becomes brittle from repeated engine heat-cycles and cracks (causing minor coolant weeps / loss) and eventually breaking completely (causing major unexpected coolant loss.   The vent tube on my son's 420i has just failed (broken off at the cylinder head), after 4.5 years and 47,000 miles, causing major coolant loss.

  Just 3 days back when i finish my duty i came to my car and started as usual normally after 1 minute the sign on the dashboard was displaying "STOP Check Coolant Servive Manual". i used to have some coolant in my car so i thought there must be less coolant in the tank, i added some coolant in it and i can see a choclaty milk shake type liquid in the coolant tank and i closed everything and started the car again then everything was ok even there was no message on dash board meter as well. 2 days later in the morning time when i was suppose to leave for my office as usual started my car same thing displayed on dashboard meter.

  My wifes car loses coolant intermittantly, there are no sign of any leaks, no mayonnaise on the inside of the oil filler cap, oil level is stable and no water/steam coming out of the exhaust. I've had the system pressure checked and all was ok.
