  European market Shoguns and Pajeros have a torque converter lock-up on second gear and above. But the automatic transmission change points are mapped differently for Japanese market Pajeros. In heavy traffic or when towing this can lead to an excessive number of changes in and out of first gear which overheats the automatic transmission fluid and splits the oil cooler fitted integral to the radiator.

  Insurance data from black box recorders suggests that three quarters of collisions occur at speeds less than 20mph in the UK. As a result automatic braking could have a dramatic impact on cutting accidents and lowering insurance premiums.   Antonov Automotive Technologies, the UK-based transmission technology specialist, will present the first variant of its small and lightweight six-speed automatic transmission to Chinese carmakers at the Chengdu A1 Grand Prix on the 8-9 November.
