Why is the fuel economy so poor in my Vauxhall Insignia? 23 Sep 2016 (Ask HJ)
I recently purchased a 2009 Vauxhall Insignia 2.0 diesel with 140.000 miles on the clock. It has a full service history and drives well. However, the fuel... -
Which MPV offers a flat load bed and good economy? 21 Jul 2012 (Ask HJ)
I would like to buy an estate car, as its flat load bed will be very useful. I fancied an SUV but, with the price of fuel, cannot justify the cost as the... -
Toyota Yaris - New diesel Yaris worth a punt? 4 Apr 2013 (Forum)
I had no plans to sell the Skoda and assumed I'd only get few hundred pounds given mileage. Does anyone have direct experience of the diesel yaris? If so is it worth snapping up and sacrificing the Skoda? I've read mixed comments on the fuel economy of the yaris and equally on the wisdom of investing in modern small diesels. I cover around 20k year, motorway and town driving. -
Any - LPG or Diesel 30 Jan 2013 (Forum)
So my question is are those cars I mentioned actually suitable for LPG systems, as I heard not all makes and models are. Is anyone aware of LPG issues like the DPF's in diesels? and finally is it not just worth the risk on either Diesel or LPG and stick to petrol and take the hit on extra fuel costs but less garage repair bills. Any advise appreciated, thank you -
All diesels - Which driving style produces the least diesel soot 24 Jan 2012 (Forum)

Audi A3 Sportback TDI - Diesel Emission MOT Test 4 Aug 2024 (Forum)
Car is in for an MOT. It failed last year on the emission test. Used Dipetane since then, Forte Diesel Cleaner in with new fuel filter when serviced. Also sprayed EGR cleaner into intake. My annual mileage is around 1000 miles so not ideal but shame to sc***. Searching on the internet I came across a chart that for vehicles before 2008 turbo are tested as per plate if present or 3.0m-1 if lower. -
Diesel benefits for low mileage user 26 Jan 2018 (Forum)
She previously ran a 1.4 petrol 500x. My point is there are a lot of people who say you must do 20k for a diesel. I disagree my wife does around 8000 miles a year mixture of school run and a weekly run of 60 mile journey. Her average mpg in the fiat was 31.2 she is now averaging 52.2. That is a huge saving in fuel, (she is paying &20 instead of &140 in tax and the car works out at no more a month for her. -
Ford Mondeo Estate or Vauxhall Vectra - Diesel Estate which one? 3 Mar 2014 (Forum)
I do in the region of 22000 miles per year of which there is quite a few towing miles. I think I can save around £700 to £1000 in fuel per year, if I get a diesel estate. I have got it down to 2 and it is either a Mondeo or Vectra. My budget is somewhere between £1500/£2000 which has me looking at a 2005/2004 model. -
Mazda 6 2008 - Diesel Run-away - Air intake cut off 26 Oct 2013 (Forum)
Hi Everyone, have not been on here for a while! I was just wondering that if a car, such as the Mazda 6 diesel 2008 2.0tdi was to run-away on its own fuel, by turning off the ignition - would it cause the run-away to stop? My main reason for asking specifically about this car, is that i need to know if it has an air intake valve which shuts off when the ignition is off....knowing one of the ways to stop an engine run-away is to starve it of air. -
Which diesel car? 20 May 2008 (Forum)
Image not imporant, but no Micra, no French cars. The car needs to be reliable. Any opinions. Thinking of the following diesels VW Polo 1.4, Skoda Fabia 1.4 , Toyota Yaris 1.4, Mitsubishi Colt 1.5. Any thoughts? {slight tweek to subject line so as not to confuse buying a car with all the recent fuel related threads kicking about} -
Diesel load v additives 2 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Having had the use of diesel cars, trucks, farm tractors, and marine engines, in my experience the operators / engineers invariably say that the engines run smoother after a full load run when they have been lightly loaded for a period. -
Yaris Diesel Engine Light 4 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Could the oxygen sensor be damaged by using additives such as Redxx? We might have put too much in the fuel. Normally we only put 1/3 of the bottle into a full tank of diesel. However, last week we put in 1/2 bottle. Any thoughts please? -

Passat diesel pump recall 5 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Hi all Just bought my first Passat, an S Estate TDi 130 '05 reg and picking it up on this week from the VW dealer. Read on the Forum about the recall (ref R/2004/211) concerning the possible breaking of diesel pump-cover bolts and subsequent fuel leak. How can I tell, besides asking the dealer, if this car has had the recall? Will it be marked in the service book? Anything else I should be looking for before handing over the balance? -

Diesel Engine Air Filter Change interval 5 Dec 2003 (Forum)
Surely a slightly blocked filter is going to impact on fuel consumption to some extent, so any feed back on this subject would be much appreciated. Many thanks. Dude. -
ULSD Diesel 3 Oct 2003 (Forum)
Or that ULSD was pushed at a cheaper price... perhaps that's why some soopermarkets are able to "absorb" the cost of the tax hike - the fuel vendors have been saving the difference since... any comments / opinions? -
