  • Pride of Ownership finalists revealed for NEC classic motor show 6 Nov 2019 (News)
The Ital was the last car to ever have the Morris name and is now extremely rare with only 30 examples believed to still be driving on UK roads. In addition, this particular vehicle was the last Morris car produced at the Cowley works making it even more special. • Future Classic Friday: Mazda Demio 8 Feb 2019 (News)
The dashboard was a bit of an Eighties throwback, the fabrics bland and the plasticky switchgear was nothing to write home about, but the Demio was nevertheless a hoot to drive.  Part of that driver appeal was down to its revvy 16v 1,323cc engine which, although it didn’t sound that quick on paper, was astonishingly eager; its 72bhp doing their absolute best to get out while encouraging you to thrash it quite hard.

The consumer motoring website analysed 100,000 Real MPG submissions from readers and found that fewer than two out of every 10 cars achieved advertised MPG and CO2 figures in everyday driving. The 10 million tonne spike in CO2 is the equivalent to an additional 5.4 million new cars on Britain’s roads - which is the same as the emissions from every new car registered in 2014 and 2015 combined.
  • Five Grand Friday: Suzuki Swift Sport 28 Aug 2015 (News)
But that little buzzy 1.5-litre engine is an absolute gem. It's a car that you can enjoy driving without having to go excessively fast. Not that it's exactly slow. While those performance figures may not seem that impressive on paper, the Swift Sport will still nip along with brisk readiness and the VVT engine is always willing and happy to be revved to the red line.

The bonds go so deep we remember them like old friends, with over half (61%) referring to their first car as female and a quarter (25%) giving them names. • Seat ecomotive congestion charge exempt 15 Feb 2008 (News)

Vehicles with CO2 emissions of 120 g/km and below are excused the revised charge, while at the other end of the scale cars rated at 226 g/km or more will, from 27th October, see their Congestion Charge more than treble from today’s rate of £8 to a stinging £25 a day.

  • Hidden Heroes: Vauxhall Zafira GSi 27 Sep 2019 (News)
Yes, it suffered from torque steer and its upright bodywork meant a bit of extra lean through the bends, but it was riotous fun to drive. It was always a niche. Vauxhall sold just 2800 of them over a four-year production run, and of those around half still survive, some in enthusiast ownership, but the others still floating around in the lower reaches of the classifieds.
