  • Chrysler Voyager (2001 - 2004) - 01 2.5 Electrical problems and Battery Failure 26 Dec 2009 (Forum)
This has been intermittent for several months, but not noticeable till the winter. Engine has been slow to start for last couple of winters, and now really bad. Battery failure at weekend when sub zero temps has blown all chances of wipers and heating working at all now! Can anyone advise if they have experienced similar problems or how to fix? Has been in a non dealer local garage with an electrician looking at it, he got it fixed till the battery failure at weekend which now means back to square one?
  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 2001 1.6 what is causing the battery drain 19 Mar 2009 (Forum)
I've an annoying problem with my Focus, and I'd be amazed if it hasn't occurred many times before. Whenever I leave the car for more than about 2 weeks, the battery drains to such an extent that I have to jump start it. The battery is only about 4 months old, and I've had this tested and it's fine. I've carried out a current drain test, and with the ignition off and all doors closed, there is approx 250 milliamps being drawn.
  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 2003 1.8 tdci Battery light flickering on and off 6 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Once as well whilst driving the battery light, handbrake light, abs light all where flashing at the same time and also all the dials (speedo , rev counter, fual and temp gauge) would turn off and come on again after about 3 secs. Car drives fine with all this happening and seems to hold charge as car always starts.
  • Vauxhall Astra H Sporthatch (2005 - ) - 06 1.6 Weak battery at start on cold mornings. 4 Dec 2008 (Forum)
I have noticed this over the last 2 weeks with it been cold, I ran the car to the supermarket & back then left it for 3 hrs and tested the battery, the voltage was at 11.93v and started it up it's charging ok at around 14.44. This is not a maintennance free battery so removed the caps and plenty of electrolite is present above the plates, but the green light is non existent?

  • Audi 80 Mk II (1991-1995) - 93 2.0 Rad fan draining battery 11 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Following on from my sluggish battery thread I have found the possible cause for this. On saturday morning I stopped car after a drive and the engine was not near 70c but rad fan was on. Didnt think much of this so came out to car after 2 or 3 hours and battery was flat as a very flat thing.

  • mondeo battery warning light stays on 6 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Right ive just bought a 03 mondeo tdci 115bhp and at first everything was ok. Yesterday driving home the battery warning light came on and now comes on about 30 seconds after the car is started. I had the battery and alternator checked at a garage and they are both working and giving sufficient charge. When we had a look at the alternator it is clear that it is a new one and been installed recently.
  • Citroen AX battery warning light? 18 Sep 2004 (Forum)
A friend recently purchased a J reg 5 door citroen AX tzx 1.4 for £300 with only 66k on the clock. Alternator died, so he has had fitted a new alternator and battery by his brother. Since then the battery warning light stays on all the time - but the car has been used everyday without fault for the past month. What could be causing the light to stay on? the car has no problems whatsoever and starts on the button everytime.
  • Baffling problem with Yamaha scooter 12 Feb 2004 (Forum)
I was wondering if anyone might know how I can tackle this problem. Another question: are gel bike batteries better than sealed normal batteries. Do they give more cranking power? Also, how could a car battery be put into a bike. I have space for the battery, but the length of the leads are too short and would not fit onto the cars terminals.
  • Cars with 36 volt batteries 1 Apr 2003 (Forum)
I personally can not imaging a car that requires 12 to 14 kW to run it that is a huge load that takes 20 HP out of the engine. Mat this guy meant 14kw to start it. Apparently the battery manufacturers and vehicle makers have been working closely to develop 42V systems. Have any of you read of this and any time scales envisaged Regards Peter
  • Halfords car batteries. 27 Jan 2003 (Forum)
Although I'm fortunate ehough to have access to a car spares wholesaler, I inherited a Halfords 063 battery. When it showed signs of failure I went to Halfords without a receipt and smiled nicely and asked politely. They checked the code on it and said that is was less than 3 years old therefore they would change it for a new one.

  • Honda CBR600F - charging problems? 26 Sep 2006 (Forum)
This was directly after a 30 mile motorway run, which struck me as a little odd. I would expect a fully charged battery after a run like this. Have yet to attack it with a multimeter, but does this sound like a regulator/rectifier issue (or the beginnings of one), or is it simply a slightly tired battery. It does concern me though that the battery appears to be discharging at idle, or again is this normal, and its only a tired battery showing it up.
  • Toyota Yaris Cross - Dead car 8 Mar 2025 (Forum)
Surely this must have been discussed somewhere on this forum   where if you don't drive your hybrid for 6 days it DIES. What the hell is going on when Toyota had my car for two days charging the battery and seeing if there was a discharge. Toyota sent an email offering a new battery for...I have asked them for a battery booster instead of the stupid bottle of tyre puncture included . They even told me how to drive my car with a list of suggestions ..BUT not one solution to leaving it parked at an airport for two weeks and finding dead at midnight ...anyone else got solutions.
  • Can you recommend an emergency battery pack 13 Dec 2022 (Forum)

  • Honest John's Motoring Agony Column 18-05-2019 Part 1 17 Jun 2019 (Forum)
Please tell us the exact, full and verified circumstances of this Leaf owner who was quoted over 7 grand for a replacement battery because as far as Im aware, Nissan along with other EV manufacturers warrants replacement of the drive battery if the capacity falls below 75%. I can only presume this 'owner' wanted his battery replaced when well above the minimum warranted capacity or wanted to upgrade to a higher capacity pack.
  • Tomtom & Garmin - Sat navs keep getting battery issues 8 Jan 2018 (Forum)
Hi, i have now had 3 different sat navs, two tomtoms & one Garmin & all three have been replaced because of battery issues.  Is this pure coincidence or is it my car?  All have been using different power adapters into the cigarette lighter, one of which has been a USB one which charges other devices without issue.
