Mazda 6 - Mzda 6 sport D (143) 2007 Wheel bearing 19 Mar 2010 (Forum)
I tried several other motor factors all with the same result, all of them having the smaller bearing. Now this leads me to believe that I have some 'Hybrid' components fitted to my car, curious in it's self but the real killer is that I still haven't got a replacement bearing. I have tried Industry bearing distributors and manufactures and have still had no luck. -
Auction bargains - No V5 21 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Apart from regular servicing, tyres and brakes, the only bills i've had are sub £100 to replace a hydraulic pipe (between clutch pedal and gearbox), and sub £100 to diagnose loss of power and replace HT leads and plugs to fix. I don't need to change, but I am tempted and may keep the Focus in the famly and move my mother's Punto on. Anyway, enough background ....... to the point There were some uber bargains yesterday in the Finance Section (reposessed), for cars with no V5 or other paperwork. -
Volkswagen Passat (2001 - 2005) - 02 1.9Tdi130-Charge Pressure Negative (17964) code 27 Oct 2008 (Forum)
The car has gone into the garage and they found a fault code: 17964 - Charge Pressure - Negative deviation in Turbocharger wastgate regulator valve. The garage removed the hose leading into the regulator. They said it had a leak on the hose and replaced it. They also checked the voltage and impedance on the unit it connected into - they read 12.34 volts and 16 ohm so in range for the device. -
Reversing into driveways - surely safer? 2 Dec 2007 (Forum)
I've always reversed into our drive as I believe it's far safer than trying to reverse out onto the road. We live in a large cul-de-sac, with many 'branches' leading off it. I live fairly close to the entrance to the cul-de-sac so get quite a bit of traffic going past. However, due to the lazy neighbours across the road regularly parking thier cars almost opposite my driveway on the road (many houses have a long drive where cars are parker end-to-end), I would struggle to reverse out anyway, but isn't an issue when I drive out forwards. -
MOT - Helpful fast fit 4 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Since they've been the subject of quite a bit of adverse comment here in the past I thought I'd relate our most recent experience of a leading fast fit outfit. The wife's car needed it's MOT but having been involved in a accident whilst parked some weeks earler and sustained some rear end damage, we were loath to take it to our usual garage about 45 mins, drive away and decided to take a chance on the nearest fast fit MOT centre. -
BMW 525d Touring (Aug 2004) Engine Fire 19 Sep 2004 (Forum)
I need to know of any little fires that may have happened to the new 5 series. Or any electrical faults that could have lead to a fire. BMW reckon that my insurance company needs to prove that there was a mechanical or electrical fault before BMW will get involved but the car is a burnt out shell. -
Falsely accused 7 Jan 2004 (Forum)
I then pointed out that the till slip showed me buying DERV and the previous transaction was for super un-leaded which would be of no use to me whatsoever, also the total volume of the two purchases exceeded the capacity of my tank. She then accused me of filling up cans which I had hidden in the back of my van so I took her outside and showed her the inside of the van, which, surprise, surprise was devoid of petrol cans. -
Dealer advice re naff Vauxhall 20 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Have given up trying to get them to rectify various squeaks and rattles through fear of never seeing the car again however have now had serious gearbox issues and on Saturday a massive engine failure (looks like entire ignition system) leading to a red faced me being towed to said Vauxhall dealer by the AA. Fortunately had this happened 24 hours later I would've missed a key work related flight at a significant loss of money, time and business. -
Interesting Day 19 Jun 2003 (Forum)
Then, when I was trying to make my way across the Queen Alex bridge, I saw a case of typical arrogant driving, everyone has to queue in the left to go along the road leading to the bridge, when it's a bit busy, this queue often stretches across a roundabout. A woman in a VW Passat didn't feel the need to queue so she went in the empty right lane and then edged along trying to push in to the left lane at the exit of the roundabout, I nudged right up to the car in front, the 206 behind me did the same, as did the car behind them, the lorry behind that, the buys behind that, and I think another car or two behind. -
More headlamp-related problems 27 Jan 2002 (Forum)
Another possibly relevant fact is that on both headlamo connectors, the plastic has melted slightly round the earth lead. I have tried taking a direct earth feed from the headlight to the battery negative - no difference. The poor old girl is worth peanuts, so I don't really want to spend a fortune at the main dealer getting this sorted (if indeed there is a problem). -
elusive VW Golf Mk3 starting/firing issu 14 Nov 2013 (Forum)
Here's the detail: 1st time 15 mile run, all warm. Return to car within 10 mins. Turns, no start. About 2 hours later AA man arrives. Removes spark lead to insert tool in line & reattaches. Starts straight up. AA man looks at me like I'm a..& then laughs. Wonders if it might have been too many keys on the fob amsking up the immobliser comms. 2nd time. 15 mile run. -
Mega Nostalgia 12 Oct 2001 (Forum)
A 2900A won the race again in 1937. And three 2900Bs finished first, second and third in the 1938 Mille Miglia, the lead driver Clemente Biondetti averaging a then incredible 83.13mph over the thousand miles of fairly dodgy roads and no less than 110mph on the leg from Brescia to Bologna. Nearly ten years later, in 1947, Biondetti won the Mille Miglia yet again in a 2900B Lungo (long wheelbase) coupe. -
Gunson - Colortune Blues (There aint no cure for the) 22 Feb 2018 (Forum)
As far as I can tell its complete apart from the bottle of cleaning fluid, but the connector to the ignition lead has a threaded end which doesn't, on its own, make a good connection. IIRC motorcycle spark plugs often have a threaded end which takes a removable nipple (dunno why, perhaps there are more than size nipple?) -
2006 Ford Focus 1.6 Ti-VCT - Jerky throttle when closed or almost closed 19 Dec 2017 (Forum)
Looked at spark plugs, some soot on the thread bases, but the centre and side electrodes and the insulator tips were clean as a whistle, looked very new. Ht leads to me look brand new, have checked resistance which was something like 7.5, 6.5, 5.5, 4.4. Havent check for shorting/arcing yet. Coil pack again looks brand new, dont know how to test this. I want to do a vacuum leak test but, kinda nervous about spraying stuff around the engine. -
Which device to prevent misfuelling? 13 Jan 2017 (Forum)
I now own both a petrol-engined car and a diesel-engined campervan, and am a little concerned that this presents an ideal recipe for the momentary confusion which can lead to misfuelling. So I am thinking of getting one of the devices designed to prevent me from putting petrol in my campervan, but would welcome any suggestions on which one to get. From the reading I have done so far, there seem to be two sorts of gadgets available: those which offer an audible or visual warning, and those which physically prevent a petrol nozzle from being inserted into the van's filling pipe. -
Vauxhall Astra 2006 1.8 - Car will not start! argh! 22 Apr 2016 (Forum)
The car now refuses to start, I can use the Radio/lights/wipers everything, it all feels like it is working fine, but it will not start, I am wondering if the power sounder battery being low would cease the car from starting? when I turn the ignition, I can hear a faint click but nothing after it, which leads me on to either; The battery not having enough power to kick it. Bad earth. Faulty Starter motor. Faulty Transponder in the key. Faulty Ignition Barrel?. I've had a charger pack thing on the battery for 10 mins but this did not seem to do anything. -
Vauxhall Zafira A - Airbag and new MOT rules... 15 Aug 2014 (Forum)
I found out that as of March last year if the car is missing any safety device that was originally part of the car then it is an MOT failure. This leads me to a major problem - as all cars now come with a drivers side airbag fitted and I have a phobia about one being there and the MOT rules state it must be there where does that leave me? Does it mean that every time I go for the MOT I have to have the airbag put back in, MOT it, and then pay for it to be removed, or can any exemptions apply on the grounds of phobias? -
Rover 25 2003 1.6 - clock resets itself ,door alarm,alternator belt 1 Jul 2014 (Forum)
Problem 3 while fixing something else on the car ,a garage told me my fan belt ( the belt by the alternator not the cambelt) was showing signs of wear , minor cracks etc , is this a serious issue and what are the implications if not fixed?will it lead to major engine damage similar to cambelt failure or cause an alternator failure? Problem 4 I was told my power steering rack underneath the car was leaking a bit, what are the major problems if not fixed. power steering fluid seems to be at maximum mark and still at maximum mark after two months of driving car. -

LPG : which system is best? 11 Jan 2014 (Forum)
t seem to be doing their homework and matching the LPG system to their cars engine/power requirements, leading to problems such as loss of power, no revs etc. Finally, ( I heard that sigh of relief ! ) which system would backroomers recommend for the BMW 3.5ltr 12 valve straight 6 ? (circa 1984-1992) Regards, Chad.R
