Air Con fault - trader dodges warranty claim 29 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Sooo,,, My brother bought a Mazda 6 from a used car dealer that works from home, I bought it on 27/3/08. In the past month or so, the air conditioning has stopped working, I call the trader up as it states "used car warranty" on the invoice (but it seems to say £0.00 for the cost of it) He tells me to go to get it regassed, I look up in the yellow pages for a specialist and take it to him for work, he detects a leak, he writes a report detailing the fault. -
Is it sensible to buy a NEW model/technology. 6 Feb 2008 (Forum)
The word technology may be stretching the point but my question is this:- Having read one or two reports about the so called reliable brands having trouble with new models or technology, namely Mazda with the early 5's, the first Honda Civics (being only as reliable as a Golf in recent surveys) and Honda diesels (e.g. - new technology to Honda) giving people problems, should we wait a couple of years after the launch before we buy with our own hard earned. -
Sub £5000 RWD sports car - suggestions? 1 Nov 2007 (Forum)
From the autotrader, following cars come within my budget Toyota MR2 (old shaped ones are below £2k, new shaped ones are quite pricey though) MG TF Mazda MX5 So far driven only MG TF (very short test drive from a private seller). Didn't feel anything special (but I can't compare with any other yet). Not too keen on MG because of so called reliability problem. -

blast from the past 12 Feb 2007 (Forum)
My car was in being serviced today and I got a courtesy vehicle. It was a Mazda Courier crew cab pickup. Looked as if it was about 10 years old but I was quite pleasantly surprised by it. It had auto, air, and a basic but reasonable radio. It was rough and noisy but you expect that from a commercial vehicle. -

Help replacing my Mondeo 27 Dec 2005 (Forum)
I've decided to replace my 98 Mondeo ST 24 but have already run into a problem; too many choices! I started looking at Audi (A4 and A6), VW Passat, Volvo, Saab, Mazda MX6, Honda Accord, Nissan Primera... not too keen on BMW's or Jags, just because of the type of person who normally drives them -(;0) I've got about £10k to spend, if I get a good trade in on the Mondeo and also shift the Shogun - I've been looking at Diesels for fuel economy, performance isn't too important although I've always loved the V6 sound -(:0). -
New car - close shave! 8 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Not sure if this has come up before (if it has no doubt DD will confirm) but some friends of mine were on the verge of buying a new Mazda 3 last week. They'd done their homework, looked at several cars and had a test drive. Just before signing up and parting with their cash, however, they decided (for reasons they can't even explain) to take another test drive and bring the car home with them. -
Norwich Union recovery quote 3 May 2005 (Forum)
For my '99 Shuttle up to 35K miles/year, it came back with £90 ish. So I kept everything the same, but changed the vehicle to a Mazda 323, and that came back with £64ish. Ah, smaller engine I thought, so I tried a Daewoo Matiz, £75. Maybe there's a reliability factor built in, so i tried a Freelander 1.8 head gasket special, and that came back with £74. -
Tyre choice 16 Nov 2004 (Forum)
In another thread the subject of tyre noise etc. came up and it set me thinking. I own a Mazda 7 seater MPV. The tyres supplied are Bridgestone Turanza ER30 - 215/60/R16 95H. I must admit I've never gone out to buy a specific brand of tyre for a specific reason but I'm wondering: a) if these tyres are good/bad/ indifferent and b) what I should consider replacing them with when the time comes. -
I Bet You NEVER Knew This? 24 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Hi Members We are going to buy car for our daughter for her 21st birthday present. She's in love with the Mazda RX 8 and we've got the brochures a few months back, and since then have seen the car in the flesh. Tomorrow, we were hoping to place an order for this car. However, as luck would have it I've just read an interesting HJ article about 'WHAT'S BAD,' about this car. -
The Ugly Stick Strikes Again 4 Dec 2003 (Forum)
I was driving up the A3 this morning and saw a car approaching from behind that I didn't instantly recognise. I wasn't sure if it was a Mazda or a Toyota, maybe a Xedos or Camry. It then indicated, pulled out to the middle lane and came past me. What a shock, it was a new BMW 5 Series. What on earth have they done to it? OK it was one of those mornings where salty spray covered us all and nothing would be too flattered, but heavan help us. -
Japanese imports - to be avoided? 19 Sep 2003 (Forum)
s the problem of no history? My local dealer has at least told me that they would service an import (I hear some Mazda dealers won?t touch imported MX5s?), and that the only real problem might be a wait on certain parts? I have read that the Prelude?s engines are ?highly stressed? (quote from Parker?s Car Chooser) and that therefore servicing is important ? -

Keep Mother sweet 1 Oct 2023 (Forum)
All in all a much improved little car, more practical, great on fuel and well made. It’s still not my favourite small hatchback, the Mazda 2, Ford Fiesta 1.25 and Suzuki Swift all still drive better but I’d recommend one happily to anyone, especially those with nervous mothers in need of transport which won’t cause any grief - hopefully. -
Number plate insurance glitch - but HPI, DVLA OK 12 Jul 2018 (Forum)
I will come back with thanks/answers to any follow-ups :-) After hanging onto my last car for ages I'm now looking to buy a Mazda 3 Sport and have found a tasty looking one for sale at a reputable franchise dealer, with number plate SR11GYS. This checks out on the DVLA vehicle check, MOT history and an HPI check: all match the actual car details as seen in the advert photos etc. -
my hit list of new cars to buy.. 15 Jul 2004 (Forum)
After an extensive survey here is my list, now, really the volvo is the pick of them all, but is a lot of money for a small car, the mazda is good value, but has a lot safety rating and is a little small inside for a big guy, so my heart really at the moment goes out to the RAV 4. The accord is an unknown from my perspective, and seems to retain value. -
