  • Skoda website 15 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Further to my recent post regarding an Octavia, the Skoda website badly needs updating. I cant believe a company the size of VAG has out of date pictures on it of the old Octavia and also the 'build your own' feature has been unavailable for months now. The cars look great, sort it out Skoda!

Check out this link to Tesco's direct site http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.201-6313.aspx They are selling a "steel and plastic" security device which looks like a baseball bat. Looks more like a cosh to me. What's the chance you'd get arrested if you were sub 30 years old and stopped with one of these in the car?
  • I had an `engine` dream last night 2 Nov 2008 (Forum)
There was a small modern petrol engine, with modern covers and so on, but space all round the engine with every DIY item being accessible. Does this exist? (Triggered I think by watching an old film featuring period cars.)

Following an old Nissan Almera this morning, I noticed a sticker on the bumper which proclaimed 'WATCH OUT - for the idiot behind me'. Mmmm...I wondered, what sort of driver would put that on their car - then when they braked, I saw they only had one brake light working.
  • Mazda 2? 19 May 2006 (Forum)
Currently parents considering a one year old model available for less than £6k with low miles. Read the road test here and comes out well, anyone else has thoughts on the model? Seems a bit of a Honda Jazz type of car, good space and flexibility.

Although french car manufacturers seem much maligned in general, I have noticed that your average 10 year old french motor has very little or no rust compared to the equivalent age Ford/Vauxhall offering...opinions? P.S.

  • Manuals 22 May 2003 (Forum)
In case anyone did not see it in the Sunday Times car clinic this weekend, a source for old and obscure servicing manuals was printed. The name is Peter Russek Publications (01494 440829) (www.russek-manuals.com). Thanks to their help I was able to obtain details of a DIY manual for a 1997 Mitsubishi Carisma.

The test drive takes place in the streets of Dhaka - no glass in at this stage and body work is base metal - the old paint of the original car has been stripped by many locals using hacksaw blades! The car jumps around as the shockers were shortened by four inches so have no travel! This show is what happens in a Country where Health and Safety are unknown terms and in parts had me and my wife in stitches.
