  • Computer related questions. Volume 43 14 Feb 2005 (Forum)
Even if I manually insert the .com in the address bar it changes to the Spanish address, (yes I am in Spain with a Spanish fixed I.P address), on activating the search. Does any one know how to ensure that ALL Google searches to to the .com site? -- Roger. (Costa del Sol, España)
  • French bred 3 Jun 2004 (Forum)
however deserved, French cars (particularly Renault, it seems from certain regular postings here) do seem to have a reputation for being unreliable, but a recent visit to northern Spain, well off the tourist trail, found me admiring the high number of older models still going apparently strongly and in daily use in the small town where I stayed. Particularly noticeable, and impressive, were the many Renault 4, 9 and 11s, some well over 20 years old, most battered and bruised but still up to the job (and with their current MoT equivalent certificates on the windscreen).
  • AA satellite location 3 Jul 2003 (Forum)
t see any reference to it and wondered if my Green Flag also does the same. On our annual trip down through France and Spain I always try and have an idea of just where I am in case of breakdown, but often I think it would be a vague and not very helpful guess within 30 miles. alvin
  • ZX towing 3 Apr 2002 (Forum)
It only applies to the 1.9TD engine, but when I asked the local Citroen garage quoted me £150 to fit it and said it had been a couple of years since they's done one of them. I have towed a glider to Spain and back over the Pyrenees with no temperature problems at all, but these trailers are narrower and only slightly taller than the car so are nowhere near as draggy as a caravan, for example. Does anyone out there have experience of towing with this engine in a ZX with/without a deflector?

  • How to report a scam on Autotrader? 9 Nov 2013 (Forum)
Got an email back, written in illiterate English, claiming the owner is a Royal Navy captain based in Spain, who bought the Conti cheap from the NAAFI and has to sell it quickly because his six months without re-registration has run out! As usual, the car will be delivered to the UK and the money will be paid via a third party.
  • fiesta 97 - Fiesta ignition key barrel (again - sorry) 29 Apr 2013 (Forum)
I have read on here the barrel is held in by a silver cap that is crimped over the barrel and this seems to be what I have, question is, how can I remove this cap without causing too much damage? Just to confuse things I live in Spain but the car is a German import. My first post so thanks for looking,   Gumski
  • Volvo XC90 (2002 - ) - Would you consider this car? 23 Nov 2009 (Forum)
I e-mailed in a very general manner (not referring to the make or model of the car) and got a message back that the car is in Spain. It was taken there buy the owner due to the economic crisis - she returned home she says, but cannot sell it there as it is RHD. Assured me that the car is A1. All fine so far. But, firstly how can inspect the car without committing to buy it.

  • Agreement Doc for Repair to Avoid Insurance Claim 16 Apr 2008 (Forum)
He's now agreed with the third party to pay for the repair himself and avoid any claim on insurance. The other person seems okay with this - and he's moving to Spain in a few weeks. After this is sorted step-son is going to get rid of the car to save money and cancel the insurance. He therefore needs something legally binding that the third party signs to say no claim will be made regarding damage to his vehicle or personal injury etc.
  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 2000 1.6 petrol estate. Air-con problem 11 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Any help please.Fitted a secondhand compressor to air con as original had a gas leak and getting parts to repair down here in Spain is a virtual no go area.Anyway, works fine, better than before apart from a terrible rattle from the clutch when first switched on.Two or four attempts later the noise stops and I can use it all day without probs. The noise is the clutch connecting and releasing at an alarming rate which improves each time you switch off and on again.Had the pressure checked and that is correct and the power supply is not fluctuating?
  • Summer Driving (hopefully...) 24 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Any chance of some advice? I've lived in Spain for 10 years, always managing to avoid the summer jams in England on my occasional return trips. However, this year the plan would be to go from Portsmouth to North Devon on the 22 July, exactly one day after the schools break up!!
  • VAG Group v/s Labour Unions 29 Aug 2004 (Forum)
VAG have a winning hand here, they could easily move production abroad ? don?t they already manufacture in Brazil, Spain, Czechoslovakia? Anybody know of any others?
  • Spanish Car Prices (in English!) 10 Jun 2003 (Forum)
I am going to live in Spain soon, and, sadly, will probably have to part with my 2000V Focus tdi Zetec(49k, ac, metallic etc, & a recipient of HJ's recommended TLC). Apart from its thirst, a joy to own, BUT rhd/UK spec. I am thinking of a smallish diesel SUV, which is comfortable, not too awful to drive, and will last me for quite a few years.

  • A303 - European Superhighway? 30 Oct 2001 (Forum)
Two points; 1.) If a road carrying this amount of traffic and also part of the Euro Network were in Spain/Portugal/France/Italy then I'm sure they would already have a 3-lane superhighway in state of the art tarmac - funded by the EU of course. In Blighty we have to struggle along a single carriageway more suited to a B-road across Exmoor.
  • Great road safety ideas from other countries 27 Jun 2020 (Forum)
Flashing amber ("proceed with caution") traffic lights replace the red/amber/green on many habitually quiet junctions at quiet night times in Italy and Spain . Bring them on! 5. Many states in the USA have a "free right turn" (left in the UK) which would allow you to turn left against a red light at designated junctions, once you've stopped and checked it's clear.
  • Citroen C3 Picasso. - Full size spare. - Citroen Assist 31 Jan 2016 (Forum)
I have just purchased a new Citroen C3 Picasso and, as I drive too and from Spain twice a year, opted for a full size spare wheel. It was with some irritation therefore that I discovered that it did not fit into the recess where the skinny spare sits. This is not a problem on the outward journey, but coming home it takes up space urgently required for rioja.
