2.0 TDI Highline Variant

Good honest car

Now with 90.000 miles I'm saying good bye to the Passat, it is a good, honest car, cheap to run and with no major issues.
I would buy it again.

Faults:
- The Mass Airflow sensor replaced at 30000 Miles.
- The NAV system blocked totally 2 times. I fixed it with a total reset.
- The locking switch on the driver's door simply fell inside the door - it was fixed by the dealer under warranty.
- The Passenger Airbag Sign went loose and fell inside the central console. I managed to find a way to fish it out and put it in the right place.
- The START/STOP system just stopped working, it appeared once on the START/STOP SYS ERROR on the onboard computer. The system was ok, it it was a symptom of a faulty battery. Replaced.
- Loss of Power during acelerations, it looks again the mass airflow sensor again... But it never stalled.

For the age It feels premium inside but the mounting quality should improve on VW.

The handling at high speeds it's not that great, the suspension it's too soft but on the other and it's very comfortable and that's the goal.
The basic Highline (writing from Portugal, here it's the more loaded version) version came with a 17" spare wheel, equal to the other four. Next time I would go for the 18" wheels with the run flat tires, that would give you no spare wheel, but a enormous extra space in the boot.

I got the RNS510 as an extra, it's pricy but I love the connectivity with the iPhone, the Bluetooth player, DVD player, I also got a rear entertainment system, non VW, which works great with the RNS. The internal hard disk has 60GB saves you lots of mp3 music.
In NAV, be careful and choose wisely one of the 3 choices the system gives you, because sometimes it can send you by "c***py-strange" ways.
