Great to drive most of the time

I bought this car after owning a Toyota Avensis and two Skoda Octavias. I had almost no problems with any of them.

I bought the Insignia because I had one as a hire car and the performance and particularly, handling were excellent. However from day one I had niggly problems from out of balance wheels which the dealer couldn't put right. My local tyre shop did. The rear spoiler was badly alligned and had to be refitted. The fuel consumption was nowhere near the claimed figures in spite of the fact that most of my driving is done comuting on a fast flowing dual carriageway.

During the summer, once the themometer reached 21 degrees Celsius the car would stall very easily and was hesitant at low throttle openings. The dealer said it was OK in spite of having it back on three occasions. I have since read that the 21 degree problem is well known on the 160 tdi's.

Earlier this year the dealer carried out a remap of the ECU and the fuel consumption improved by 20%. It took 18 months from me buying the car to the changes to be made. The hesitation, etc. is just the same. Now the weather has cooled down no problem at all.

I must say that I not impressed by Vauxhall or my local dealer in North Shields and I wouldn't buy another Vauxhall never mind the Insignia.
