Vauxhall Insignia (2017 - 2022)
1.6 Turbo D 136 Design Nav 5dr
Good overall
Black 2018 Insignia, very nice looking car. "Design Nav" trim is a bit basic but the car still has all electrics inside. And exterior wise, metallic paint and alloy wheels, very well equipped.
Super comfortable interior. Seats are very supportive and the driving position is perfect. sound system is quality. The car drives like something much more expensive than it is. Clutch is light, brakes are strong, gearshift is smooth.
1.6 diesel is very economical with over 50 mpg on average no matter how you drive. It has enough power though I think I'd prefer the bigger 2.0 diesel.
So its a good looking and nice to drive car that is cheap to buy and economical, so what is the catch? There is still some badge snobbery with Vauxhall, but I think it is as good as German counterparts. I'll admit it is also probably not as reliable long term at higher miles and some part quality is low and the interior does have some cheaper plastics here and there. Mechanically the clutch and flywheel failed at great cost recently but expected at nearly 95,000 miles on my 2018 example. I have also had some annoying electrical faults but nothing too serious. Be aware buying used a lot of these cars are used as taxis and will have led hard lives.
Overall though a much better car than previous generation Insignia. In short, buy a well looked after car with low miles and do not pay too much for it and you should be OK and get good value from the Insignia.
