Extremely quiet, refined and excellent value for money

I've had my new Superb for 5 weeks now, and done 1600 miles in it. Seems very high quality inside, with very refined, quiet engine. Excellent on the motorway, and a great ride. My last car was a Mk7 Gold GTD (company car) so I was concerned my new (privately owned) superb would feel underpowered, but I've been very pleasantly surprised. It's not overly powerful, but really is perfectly adequate (other car in our household is a 1.2 Corsa, which is very slow in comparison). No issues accelerating up motorway inclines at 70+mph, though overtaking needs a little planning, it's still no issue. I'd probably have gone for the 150PS if it had been available in the S trim - but the price increase was too much (given the S already has very generous spec). I was put off Diesel by the high costs of possible repairs down the line, and the significant extra when buying new (worked out at least 3 or 4 years payback, by which time you could have issues with the DPF etc). Also the 1.6 tdi is slower, much nosier, and generally not such a nice engine (have driven in several other vw group cars)! Given I've averaged an actual 44.1mpg fill to fill (trip computer is a couple of mpg optimistic) since owning the car I'm very glad I went petrol - that's only a couple of mpg off my old GTD diesel! And given the 66l tank I'm getting 650 miles between fills!
I bought through an internet based supplier, and the car was delivered by a Skoda main dealer. I paid just over £15k in total, which I feel is amazing value for the car. I could barely get a low spec Ford Focus for the same money, and a Mondeo was approx £4k more! (I notice prices have gone up slightly now, but still excellent value!)
