A superb car, so so agile and enjoyable to drive whilst being perfectly practical. Best car I've had.
I can't get over how good this is to drive. I've a two car stable that used to be a 2011 Kia Ceed diesel (great, reliable solid car that I loved from 52k to 164k miles) and a 2007 Mini Convertible for fun. I barely drive the Mini anymore and am thinking about selling it as the Mazda 3 is so good to drive. The only downside is that it doesn't feel as solidly built as the Kia, but that's a price worth paying for its low weight which contributes to its agility and joy to drive. I'm impressed by the engine, but do wish it kept pulling harder at higher revs (torque drops off badly), something I may remedy in the future. It's also great to have a naturally aspirated engine that pulls in such a sweet way. Economy can be phenomenal - I have managed 56mpg indicated on a 50 mile run along the M4 (very light foot) and even when driving spiritedly I can't get it below 45mpg - I do use Shell V-Power, though, which may help..Driiving position is also perfect for me and reminiscent of older 1980s BMWs I've had (E21 and E30).
