Overpriced and Mediocre

Bought this brand new in Nov 18 to replace a Jeep Grand Cherokee which I loved and was faultless after 3 years ownership but the PCP was up. I wanted another 4x4 but with a smaller engine for better economy rather than run another 3.0 V6 like the Jeep. Test drove the Discovery Sport and found it ok if a little boring and uninspiring but it was new, looked nice in HSE Dynamic Lux trim and with a 3 year warranty and would be economical (so I thought) Good point is it looks great, seems well built, solid and is a smooth drive at low speeds. Now for the bad points. MPG is shocking. The 3.0 diesel Jeep which is half a ton heavier did 32 - 34 mpg average. The Discovery with a 2.0 diesel does 34 -36. It drops to 25mpg when doing a (frequent) DPF regen. The parking sensors have a mind of their own and the interior reminds me of a low spec Golf Estate The infotainment system looks and works like something Atari desinged in 1980 with the lag to match. Engine when revved sounds like sand and gravel in a cement mixer and it has major design problems with the DPF, balancer shafts and oil dilution. Since day one it has leaked exhaust fumes into the cabin from a broken Catalyst (now been fixed) so I'm in the middle of rejecting it on that basis. Hard to believe its nearly a £50,000 car. After 6 weeks of ownership the trade in value is £34,000 (WBAC) .com
