Well sorted town car

Bought new on your recommendation, it’s been delightful and a really well sorted car. (It’s a 1.1 engine which compared with my mother’s 1.2 is slightly inferior but still pretty good in my view.)

Downsides:

Squeaking seat belts – right at ear level, irritating but not really the end of the world.

Rear seat belt mechanism which occasionally seems to trap the folding rear seats in the down position – needs dealer to resolve every time it happens. Mechanism replaced twice but still happens. Design issue?
Major clutch malfunction September 2011 which grounded the car – but resolved without quibble under warranty.

Further breakdown soon after due to earth lead not being re-attached correctly after clutch/gearbox work – RAC resolved on the drive but dealer highly apologetic)

Rear exhaust box blow

Driver’s seat cover now seems to be splitting at the edges

Upsides

The warranty, which has recently replaced the clutch, exhaust, and now the dealer seems to think the seat cover will also be covered too and has ordered a replacement.

Given the age I would have accepted a “wear and tear” excuse for the exhaust and seat or a 50/50 split, but the dealer adamant they’re covered. Can’t argue with that.

Original £35 tax now £30!

Conclusion: A few faults, but the warranty and dealer attitude excellent and they promptly put things right. We feel really supported by the dealer.

Perfect for my wife’s job doing viewings for an estate agent. My daughter likes it too (recent test pass) and it’s the car of choice for all of us when we nip into town etc.

Would we buy another? Yes
