Honda CR-V (2012 - 2018)
1.6i DTEC EX 4WD Auto 5dr
Excellent at what it's designed to do...
Bought ours as Honda Approved in 11/19.
Generally very pleased with it over (now) 20 months of ownership. Yes - the ride is pretty soft, it's not a sportscar (CRV='Comfortable Runabout Vehicle'). If you want sharp handling, then get a Beamer (and associated bills). Adding MAD Progressive Rear springs has sharpened up the rear for towing duties.
Acres of room in the boot and across the back seats - with no transmission tunnel/completely flat floor: one of the few SUVs that can genuinely accommodate 3 large guys in comfort in the back. Seats (Leather on ours) fine, albeit on the firmer side - which we prefer.
In stock 160bhp form, it's got decent grunt, and after Celtic Tuning have tuned it to 190bhp and (more importantly) 427Nm, it makes for a very potent M-way cruiser and towcar. The ZF-sourced 9 speed auto box has been a sweet revelation, and for the 2mpg penalty over the manual is an utter no-brainer, with a huge ratio range and minimal hesitation. For those wanting to tow up to 1500Kg braked (the manual is rated to 2 tonnes), then this is the one to go for.
Only real downer for us is the frankly shoddy ICE System - Android based (archaic 4.x version) with relatively lo-res graphics and no logical flow to the interface whatsoever: even a 10 year old 'digital native' would struggle. Added to which, the touchscreen simply doesn't register...for at least 70% of the time. You'll find yourself hammering on the screen to no effect. Dealer has given up on it now, and we'll likely swap it out for something that can actually be used, sometime soon.
Otherwise a 9/10 vehicle, all things considered.
