Honda CR-V (2012 - 2018)
1.6i DTEC EX 4WD 5dr SUV
Shameful - clutch failure after 65 days = customer's problem
Honda - the power of nightmares.
Complete clutch failure in 2.5y/o car = customer's problem.
Bought 2.5 y/o CRV from main dealer: 22k miles, FSH, still under warranty (trading in existing 150k miles CRV).
55 y/o motorist, driving 30 years+, 30k miles pa, no prior history of clutch problems.
Burning smell about 7 weeks after purchase - dealer investigates can't see anything - suggests I'm riding the clutch (I don't).
Take car on holiday to Outer Hebrides & clutch fails completely at only 29k miles / 65 days after purchase.
Spend much of next week liaising with Honda about how to get family and dog recovered home and rack up c£450 in car hire costs.
Car recovered to main dealer. Clutch and dual mass flywheel need replacing at cost c£1,830.
Honda / dealer deny any warranty cover as "clutch is a wear item" and failure is put down to wear so repair has to be paid for.
Ex-gratia offers made of £250 re costs and 50% of repair bill - refused and action in progress to recover full amounts
Family has had 4 Honda cars and 5 Honda motorcycles - but never again!
Now have no trust in the car or Honda.
Not impressed with it as a car either. Wallows badly and has very narrow power band (esp compared to older version) so you are up and down the gears in anything other than motorway cruising. Avoid.
