  • Time to replace Saab 9-3 - C-Max TDCI/1.8 petrol 30 May 2021 (Forum)
We need a vehicle that's easier for my elderly mother to get in and out of. With a maximum budget of £3,000 a Ford C-Max from 2008 - 2009 is the favoured option. Mileage anticipated to be 5,000 a year, most of this 20 mile plus journeys. I'm favouring a petrol 1.8 but am wondering what the 1.8 TDCI is like for reliability?

  • Ford, Renault or Toyota? 14 Apr 2012 (Forum)
My Focus TDCi estate goes back in September and I have a choice of one of these as a company car for the next four years: Toyota Avensis 120D Comfort Cross Sport; Renault Grand Scénic Expression Energy DCi110; Renault Laguna Grand Tour EMotion DCi 110 Eco2; Ford C-Max 1.6 TDCi 115 Trend (The model designations are for the Spanish market). I've ruled out the C-Max as it's too similar to my Focus Estate and has the lowest trim level but am torn between the two Renaults and the (British built) Toyota, which are also at the bottom of the range but seem a little more upmarket.
  • Ford C-MAX 2005 1.6 TDCI CVT - EGR Failure, again! 20 Jun 2011 (Forum)
After 37000 miles, mostly motorway, ENGINE SYSTEM FAILURE warning was displayed accompanied with a loss of engine power. Recycling the ignition temporarily cleared the fault and restored the power. A visit to the Ford Main dealer cost me nearly £500 for a diagnostic (£200) and a new EGR Valve. Now after a further 19000 miles the same symptoms have occurred. Not wishing to pay £200 for the diagnosis, I had already bought an OBDII reader.
