  Ford Escort RS Turbo makes £60k at auction 21 Dec 2015 (News)
  A frenzied bidding war resulted in a world record auction price for a 1985 Ford Escort RS Turbo Series 1 of £60,188 sold at the NEC classic motor show. The price helped Silverstone Auctions to a total of £4.4 million over the weekend. In total, 80% of the 95 lots on offer were hammered away in the two-day auction at the NEC, Birmingham.  Other fast Fords also proved extremely popular with the hundreds of buyers at the sale.

  Ford expands Transit range 22 Sep 2014 (News)
  Ford has expanded the Transit range, with updated bodystyles, four-wheel drive and a new extra-long wheelbase. The new Ford Transit models extend the range to an impressive 450 variants and order books are  now open.  The Transit range updates include a new double chassis cab model, with space for up to seven people thanks to the extra-long extended L5 wheelbase, with an overall length of 7797mm.

  Ford and Fiat miss out on top Euro NCAP safety ratings 3 Mar 2017 (News)
  Ford’s new Ka+ and the revised Fiat 500 achieved an underwhelming three star rating in the latest round of Euro NCAP crash testing. The new Citroen C3 was awarded four stars. Ford will be concerned with the performance of the new Ka+, especially following the terrible two star crash safety rating given to the Ford Mustang in January.

  The survey is based on downtime caused by warranty claims, recalls and breakdowns. Ford took joint honours for best model and manufacturer for the second consecutive year, while the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (pre-facelift) improved its reliability record to clinch second place from the Transit Connect.

  The car, which had just 1723 miles on the clock, sold for £292,500 on 27 February. A 1987 Ford Capri 280 'Brooklands' with a similarly low mileage of just 936 miles, sold for £54,000 – another record. Fast Fords proved popular across the board with a best of breed a 1995 Ford Escort RS Cosworth LUX selling for £52,875 and an exceptional 1972 Ford Escort Mexico selling for £43,875, more than £16,000 over its lower estimate.

  . We have a budget of £10,000. Any advice appreciated. RB, Scotland A Ford B-Max is probably your best bet. Nicer with the 1.0 Ecoboost 100 or 120 engine. Not diesel.   In a bad mode I waited for, and recently bought a new Skoda Octavia 1.4 DSG TSI.  So far I've only driven 550 miles in it and it has been fine.  Usually I stick to ECO mode, swapping to Normal when e.g. wanting some 'welly' prior to and during a steep ascent. Today it was as usual in ECO mode. After a half hour break I restarted, reversed and then drove off, but could hear and feel that the car was in Sports mode.  In my old Octavia 1.9 that would have signified that I'd pulled the gear lever beyond D to S; however, as you know this model has a single gear lever D/S position. The readout in the small panel above the wheel confirmed that the car was in S: yet when I pressed the Mode button, on the main screen ECO was still ringed as selected. I tried pressing Normal, then ECO, but this had no effect. I stopped and restarted the engine, and this time it reverted to ECO mode as normal. Is this a known fault or may it just be a one-off?
