Automatic Ford Fiesta launched in UK

Tue, 16 Jun 2009
Motorists who have been considering buying an automatic car for some time may be convinced to go ahead after seeing the latest addition to Ford's line-up.

The company has released a version of the Fiesta that does not require drivers to change gears manually.

Product manager Chris Muers explained the reasons behind the decision to build the vehicle.

"Typically, around ten per cent of small car buyers specify an auto option, so convenience technology is an important addition to a range that now offers an option for every taste," he stated.

Priced from £13,195 on the road, the model is available in three different trim levels – Style+, Zetec and Titanium.

The car can accelerate from zero to 62 mph in under 14 seconds and boasts fuel economy of 43.4 mpg.

In related motoring news, the Ford Fiesta was Britain's top-selling auto in May.

Meanwhile, the manufacturer claimed the scrappage scheme was having a positive effect on its overall sales figures.
