  Fast Fords in Historics 13 th July Classic Car Auction at Brooklands Museum, Weybridge include a rare and original 1971J Ford Escort Twin Cam originally built in Sydney by Ford Australia. This un-mucked-about-with Twin Cam looks very innocent in ‘Q-Car’ Copper Red with five and a half J steel wheels, but has the benefit of being bored out to 1,700cc with a lightened and balanced crankshaft and, of course, twin Weber carburettors.

  One of four pre-production Sierra Cosworth RS500s is heading to auction. Only 500 examples of these were built – and this is the only one built by Ford. Coachbuilder Tickford made the other 499 examples. RS500 specialist Paul Linfoot has confirmed the car is chassis number one, making it the ‘Holy Grail’ for fans of fast Fords.

  He was entirely responsible for the Ford Cargo light truck, Mk3 Transit, Sierra and Mk3 Granada, all of which still look relatively modern even today. Of those, it was the Granada that Le Quement spoke about most candidly.   More than half of new cars sold in the UK today contain some sort of autonomous safety technology, a study by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has found. Of the 2.63m cars registered in 2015, just over 1,000,000 featured autonomous emergency braking, 943,000 were fitted with blind spot monitoring, 835,000 with adaptive cruise control, and a staggering 1,500,000 included a collision warning system.
