Mobile phone scam. 23 Nov 2005 (Forum)
If you get a 'missed call' number on your mobile phone that starts with 0709 , just delete it. It is a premium rate number scam. More infor at http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/scams/mobile.asp I have just looked a at Mrs buzbee's mobile to see 0709 680 8503 as a missed call! As you will read from the above link, the 0709 bit indicates a scam and those last 7 numbers can vary. -

AutoTrader scam e-mail warning 17 Sep 2004 (Forum)
AutoTrader has issued an e-mail warning of an e-mail scam to try and get some of your hard earned money into the wrong hands under the guise of it coming from its own organisation. It seems similar to the familiar "Send you bank details to us" e-mail scams which have been doing the rounds for some time - and then there's the Nigerian 419 racket.... -

I can’t find any reviews for it. The prices do look a bit too cheap - I assume it’s a scam. I sent a message to PayPal, as it’s listed as a payment method, they just directed MR to their buyer protection. Mark -

BBC report on car sale scams 10 Jun 2009 (Forum)
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8090559.stm I saw this, and noticed that nowhere did it mention that these scams draw people in by offering cars at way below typical prices, relying on buyers' greed to drive the deal forwards. Invariably the "car" is not in the UK - who in their right mind pays for a car (£15,000 in the case of the buyer shown) that they have not seen/driven? -
This must be a scam, but how? 29 Mar 2006 (Forum)
I have advertised one of my cars on another website.I have had two seperate offers to buy the car unseen, from people writing in poor English, who want to pay me several thousands more than the car is worth to cover shipping costs to Holland, although one guy says he is a businessman in this country. They want to pay by bankers draft and dont want shipping till the money is cleared.Who would buy a car unseen for more than its worth? It must be a scam but how does it work if the money is in my account? Is the bankers draft fake or can they access my account and withdraw it later.Or should I scam these guys in return! -

If you get a message left for you something like: "Hi this is James from the Information Team, this is our second attempt to contact you, please call us on 0871 2089407, Thanks" It is a scam, the number you call is premium rate and probably cost you £1 plus to call it, it will be a dead line, if you dial 1471 the call has come from 0871 2089406.
