I was amused by the irony of this, which popped into my Inbox today:

"Attention:

To effect the release of your Fund you are kindly advised to contact the Director of payment and delivery Officer Eva Joe Wickwire with following information email (joewickwi@aol.com) and telephone number (+233-264212400) in contact with him do provide the following information:

Somebody, somewhere, is taken in by this, otherwise they wouldn't do it.

For a laugh i sometimes go on the 419 Eater forum, some of those regulars are brilliant with the best turning the scams around, the anger from the scammers when they themselves are out of pocket and time instead of the victim is heartwarming.

I feel especially sorry for vulnerable women, often of advancing years or who might have failed to find love for any of a multitude of reasons, who end up not just financially damaged but have the emotional turmoil of their romantic hopes dashed, possibly forever....anyone who can cause those heartless scammers losses and trouble has my vote.

There is a marvelous paperback about these scams. I think it called 'In Jesus's Name'. It is a reporter who really leads them on. he has had them travel all over the UK to ;collect' money from a supposed victim. The book is really funny and well worth a read.

90% of "Romance" scam victims are men, but strangely it is usually the women victims who get in the papers.

Of course, the wrong mindset doesnt help; a rich elderly friend got ripped off over a dozen times; he gets sent a racy photo and his gonads take over.

Half the time the photos are stolen, and the other half lifted from Porn sites; even some of the "genuine" women were using heavily phot***opped images to fool him about their real age/appearance.

Confession time, I nearly got fooled by a couple myself; one was a criminal gang, the other had sent photos that were 18 years (and 30+KG) out of date.

This particular scam is a lol though, although it has been going around for several years now.
