  • Jaguar XJ8 - ECM change 11 Jun 2015 (Forum)
If I disconnect the battery for 24 hours or more, the problem seems to fix itself but soon returns leading me to think I have an ECM problem. If I replace the ECM with a second hand unit, do I also need the key and barrel from the donor car? Thanks in advance.
  • 2001 Focus 1.6 ghia - Throttle position sensor maybe? 16 Feb 2015 (Forum)
The revs are being erratic again or idling at 1k. In the past year I have changed the breather hose, icv, ht leads, plugs, speed sensor (Twice) and coil. Please help. Getting frustrated now. I am to believe it may be an issue with the TPS as this may cause similar issues with the idle. There is no EML on or any errors reporting with my scanning device.
  • Peugeot 405 Diesel - fuel filter housing leak 24 Sep 2014 (Forum)
It is a small white round piece at the bottom of the black plastic filter housing, on another site info I have read leads me to believe that is coming from a thermostat at the bottom of the housing. I have not been able to find any info online in regards to this part, or how to repair or replace. anyone familiar with this?
  • VW Golf Mk 2 Match 1988 - Unleaded petrol 15 Aug 2014 (Forum)
My friend is convinced she needs to put Super Unleaded in her 1988/9 (G) VW Golf Mk2 Match.  She thinks this is because leaded petrol is no longer available and that somehow 'super unleaded' is the only alternative.  I cannot convince her she is wasting money and time (looking for a super u/l pump) by not using ordinary unleaded petrol.

I bought a 2011 ford Mondeo 2.0tdci. The car is running really well but I have discovered that the lead  from the glow plug relay that runs down past the alternator shows some damage just accross from the alternater bearing. i would like to replace this cable but I am not sure if its part of the engine wiring loom of if a section of this can be replaced.
  • Audi A4 B6 TDi 2002 - Battery Charging in-situ/Replacement 10 Feb 2014 (Forum)
As the drive is on a slope and I'm unable to get a 2nd car alongside, is it OK to charge the battery in situ? Are there any precausions i need to take, ie disconnecting the car leads and what possible problems may arise (radio code aside). As soon as I get the thing going first stop a new battery, any recommendations? Any advice gratefully recieved.
  • Ford Mondeo Mk3 2Lt petrol Duratec - Low-load misfire 9 Oct 2012 (Forum)
The engine has new Plugs, Leads & Coil Pack to successfully cure a misfire. I now have a jerky engine (misfire?) when running along with the engine just keeping up with the road speed (much more dramatic in 4th rather than 5th) - the slightest acceleration and on overrun seems to be OK.

  • any - 40 mph speed limit on 'quiet' rural roads 17 Jul 2012 (Forum)
There is a road junction on the hill above Rainow, near Macclesfield, where there is a 30 mph sign for the major road almost next to a national maximum speed limit (60 mph) on the lane leading off.  If anybody tried to do any speed at all on that lane it would be a short cut to the cemetary for someone.
  • Honda Civic - Car valuation? 23 May 2012 (Forum)
Spec: 2006 Honda Civic 1.8 Sport, 5 door, 57000 miles, 17" Type R look alloys, fog lamps, CD player, factory tinted windows,  mp3 lead, MOT, full dealer service history, both interior and exterior in good condition, minor trolley dent on the passenger door. I was thinking around £5500.
  • Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 04 2.0 Rear washer 4 Apr 2012 (Forum)
I have looked for a second washer bottle and can't find it, so i assume that the car only has one. I can not see any leaks from any of the pipes leading from the washer bottle, or any leaks into the car. Can anyone shed any light on the issue. Cheers

  • 2008 VW Golf TDI 1.9 - Misfuelling-have I caused damage by driving it 9 Oct 2011 (Forum)
My 2008 VW Golf TDI was nearly empty. I made the mistake of putting about 13L of un-leaded petrol in it. I was given the advice that if I filled the tank up diesel the car would be ok. It seems to be driving ok, but is taking 3 to 4 attempts to start. Also the oil warning light came on last time I started it.
  • VW Golf GTI - Golf GTI timing belt 25 Jul 2011 (Forum)
If this is the case I think there is a strong possibility they have over tightened the bolt which has lead to it shearing off. Your help please.
  • vw passat - electrical problem 27 Apr 2011 (Forum)
On my 1995 petrol passat (in an attempt to fit a starter button) I mistakenly linked the ignition live with the outer (earth?) of the immobiliser cable which leads down from the ignition switch. the car will fire up but then stops immediately. What bit am I likely to have damaged? As any expert can tell I should never have started but all help will be much appreciated. the idea of the starter button (now not connected) was because the final turn in the key to operate the starter appeared to be getting touch and go.
  • Nissan Primera IV p12 (2002 - 2006) - 2.2 dci recall related to Engine Managment System. 15 Feb 2011 (Forum)
I've just received a letter recalling my 54 plate 2.2 dCi Primera for a "Concern related to the Engine Management System has been identified. This can lead to a lack of power, poor acceleration response, black smoke from the exhaust and/or whistling noise" Anyone got any inside information on this. Perhaps it will actually fix the only real complaint I have with the car: Poor fuel consumption!
  • Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec - Delay on ignition 30 Sep 2010 (Forum)
HI, I recently changed the coil, ht leads and plugs and to make the engine warning light go out I disconnected the battery for 10 minutes. Since then I now find when I start the car there is a about a 1 second delay between turning the key fully to when the start motor actually kicks in.
